Views from the Ridge lives up to its name with tranquil grand mountain scenery, and magnificent starry skies. Only 15 minutes from the Plaza, this vacation rental is a place to truly get away, but not too far away. Enjoy nearby hiking or just sit on the spacious portal and watch the changing light on mountains, ridges and arroyos that stretch all the way to the Colorado border. Convenient to the Santa Fe Opera house, the flea market, the quaint village of Tesuque, and the road north toward Taos, Chimayo, or Los Alamos.
The front of the residence has an adobe-brick wall for privacy, and a lovely landscaped courtyard behind its Santa Fe gate, making the entrance both private and memorable. Perfect for a morning coffee to sit and enjoy the lavender, sage and herb garden.
Entering the home you'll have an immediate sense of its airiness via an open-floor plan. The public space shares the kitchen, dining room and kitchen, with two private bedroom suites in the wings.The dining area seats six comfortably, while the full kitchen has a large island, with bar spaces to accommodate an additional three guests. The living room offers easy lounging, with its stuffed chairs and sofa; in addition, a sitting area by the fireplace provides a perfect spot to warm a chill, as well as the radiant heating system throughout the residence. And for those summer days, there's an evaporative, water-based cooling system.
On the other side of the entrance you'll find a more intimate den or study, complete with a new Mexico-style desk and internet/wi-fi access, and folk art charm. This library room has its own wood-burning fireplace, comfortable suede sofa, television and DVD player.
Adjacent to this entertainment area, you'll find a queen bedroom and full bathroom, with a lovely wood rocker. A laundry room is close at hand with washing material for use during your stay.
The master has an old world charm, highlighted by its stained glass windows and candle-lit fireplace. A Private toilet, sunken jacuzzi tub with picture window, and dual sink vanity can be found off of the master bedroom, complete with hand-painted cabinetry of the high desert.
A propane barbeque awaits the chef on the portal terrace, complete with patio furniture and a dining table for guests. The patio wraps around the back side of the home, where you'll enjoy the great views for picturesque moments throughout your stay, evidenced in the photo slideshow. Please note, due to its foothill location, the residence may require a 4-wheel drive during winter months.

Away from the city in this peaceful setting, the sky was full of stars every night. Easy access to the highway made road trips easy and we saw more than expected; Taos, Red River Gorge, and Tent Rocks were fantastic, some of the best food (Grahams) and scenery around. We would not think about staying anywhere else when we come back. |

View from the Ridge is a beautifully designed house that is equiped with everything you need for a wonderful stay.Each day you wake to the gorgeous day,expansive view and the discovery of a new object d'art. We are looking forward to renting this house again. Two suggestions to keep the house as wonderful as it is: Check the water system-not enough hot water to fill even the small tub and the water leaves a thick residue in tubs. The house could also use an appliance update. The dishwasher and refrig are noisy for such a quiet place.Loved our stay! Endless Views Reviewed by: Lyle V. recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in September, 2010 This is a spectacular house and property, you feel like you have 10,000 acres as your backyard. The house has all that you would expect in a traditional adobe Santa Fe house, from the piñon beam and slats in the ceiling to the traditional fireplaces throughout the house. The kitchen was the best organized of any home that we had rented anywhere in the world. The house is a 15 minute ride back into Santa Fe and gives you easy access to trips in the northern part of New Mexico. I would recommend stopping at the Tesugue General Store and cafe. It has the best wine selection that you are going to find in the area and has great pizzas and wonderful takeout. All around a great location and home I would recommend to anyone. |
