MAT603A - This two-story luxury condo located on the sixth and seventh floors of the elegant Matapalo complex has the light floating feeling of being in a dream. Cream-colored tile floors with round-pebble detail span both levels, spilling out of glass doors onto patios that lead into thin air. The breathtaking view gives such a sensation of flying that you will find yourself reaching out for something to hold on to. Below your feet lies an exotic tropical garden that surrounds the pool. In the near distance, Tamarindo beach, lined by royal palms stretches to meet the La Baula Estuary and National Park. The scene fades away in the distance as sky and sea melt into a kaleidoscope of clouds.
On the first level there is a fully equipped state-of-the-art kitchen with beautiful granite counter tops that adjoins the living area. Efficiently compact and practical, the kitchen includes a flattop electric stove, oven, large double-door refrigerator with an ice dispenser, a dishwasher and all the necessary items to create and enjoy your favorite meals. A small and comfortable washroom is located between the kitchen and the main door.
Arched doorways with classic columns lead from the main living area to two bedrooms located on this lower level. Each room is flooded with natural light, has spacious closets and its own private bath. The bedroom located on the front side of the building has two sets of sliding glass doors; one leading to the common terrace and another that opens onto a private patio and a panoramic birds-eye-view. The bedroom on the other side has large windows that survey the rolling hills and coastline to the south.
But the most spectacular part of this space is still to come. In the living area a stone staircase spirals up to a second level of true luxury. The height is dizzying and the large windows and glass doors give the feeling of having stepped into the sky instead of a penthouse suite. From the ample balcony where the Jacuzzi bubbles, the earth has faded away and you are left only with the sea stretching into infinity, the sound of waves, the brush of the wind.
This is a master bedroom from fairytales. In addition to a delightful king sized bed, there is an enormous walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom equipped for two. A generous living area and a small kitchen with every convenience of the larger kitchen below makes it seem unnecessary to leave the beauty of this private haven for even a minute.
An enormous swimming pool of organic design is the center of the garden area and boasts a swim up bar which you won?t want to miss. Across the street an oceanfront restaurant is preparing tropical delicacies to add sweetness and spice to the memories you will carry with you for a lifetime.

Jeffrey M. from Trenton, NJ does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in November, 2016 The unit was very nice inside and clean. Plenty of room for for my family of five. Close to the beach and restaurants. The experience with the Hotel Diria is not a good one. You will receive a red wrist band with the condo rental which gives u access to the condo pool. If you go to the beach( of course u will) the hotel will force you to buy another wrist band ( white one) which is $40 per day per person. $20 is for the privilege to use a very small grassy area with lounge chairs near the beach and the other $20 they force u to spend at the hotel for drinks or food. That was $200 per day for us!! The hotel staff is rude, and does not have mastery of the English language. U will be turned away from breakfast if they are busy with hotel guests so u are a second class citizen as s condo renter. They have security people who will chase u off the property if u dont buy the white wrist band. The security guy actually had the nerve to accuse my 11 year old daughter of turning over her red wrist band to the white side to avoid paying extra!! They had given us purple bands that day and the security guy didn't even know the situation because they don't even communicate with each other!! Do ur self a favor and stay elsewhere if u plan to go to the beach. U could stay at JW Marriot or the Four Seasons and ot have to worry about the gestapo bothering ur children and the inconvenience of being treated like a second class citizen. FYI: they had a large wedding party that took over the hotel area andcondo area so we couldn't even use what we were promised.
Paul M. from Ridgefield, CT recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2016 We really enjoyed our stay at this condo. It offers a great location, close to beach, restaurants and shops. It was the perfect home during our stay in Tamarindo. Spacious and clean. Great for a family. Offers a fantastic view of the pool and the coastline. The second floor balcony is the perfect spot to watch the sunset each evening. The staff was wonderful as well. A great experience from beginning to end!
Property Manager Response: Response from Tropical Vacations Thank you so much for your review. We are very glad that your trip went smoothly and can't wait till you can come back!
A guest from San Diego, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2016 This condo is located in the heart of Tamarindo. Walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shopping. The condo was beautifully furnished and the management were easy to work with. We would definitely stay here again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Tropical Vacations Thank you very much for the great review. This condo is truly wonderful. We hope to see you again soon!
Reviewed by: Donna H. recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2016 This is a beautiful condo in the perfect location. Beach, shopping and restaurants are all nearby and in walking distance. Property management staff was friendly and accommodating as were the on-site staff. The only thing you need to bring, if you want, is food and beverages, everything else is provided. I only have two comments/suggestions: A WiFi extender would help with the poor WiFi reception on the second level and the ladies on this trip all agreed that the lighting was poor for putting make-up on. These are minor, but felt they were worth mentioning. Pura Vida!
Property Manager Response: Response from Tropical Vacations Hi Donna - thanks for your great review and kind words. A wifi extender is a good idea - I will pass it onto the owner and look into it (sometimes those can be hard to find down here!). Thanks for the note on the lighting as well. We hope to see you again in the future!
Andrea J. from Doylestown, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 21 days in February, 2016 Rented 2 levels of condo for 3 weeks. View and location were perfection. Three weeks with different family members joining us was VERY difficult, requiring new wrist bands and swipe cards with each group. Rental company powerless to provide these, and Hotel Diria impossible to work with. This was a return trip for us and we had many more restrictions that even last year. Can't use adult pool, can't sit on property along the beach, I feel bad for condo owners of these lovely properties who are caught in the demands of the hotel's new rules. We met many disgruntled guests.
Property Manager Response: Response from Tropical Vacations Hi Andrea - thanks for your review. Yes, we have struggled with the relationship with the Diria hotel and have been working to do our best to work things out with them. This was the first high season with the new system and restrictions and we have come to a better working relationship with them in the last couple of months to deal with situations such as yours. We hope you come back again and we can help you have a different experience in the future.
Tom C. from Dayton, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2016 We rented both levels of Matapalo #603 for our group of 6 for our first visit to Tamarindo. The condo was as described, clean and well maintained. Quiet with gorgeous view and easy walk to the beach, pool, restaurants and shopping. RPM arranged transportation to & from Liberia AP which is both cost competitive and convenient. Driver was on-time, prepared with condo keys & facility (gated) swipe cards. Only disappointment was no gas grill since we would have enjoyed grilling a couple of times during our week stay. Tamarindo is a very safe area and the Ticos are friendly and accommodating. We used 'Get Lost in Costa Rica' for two tours (ATV & Rincon de la Veija) and you will not be disappointed with Don Grant so be sure to check out his web site / Facebook page. One of our group also did the estuary tour and opted for the early AM canoe version since wildlife is active at sunrise and powered boats tend to scare away some of the wildlife life. Go early morning to hike Playa Grande beach - take the water taxi across the entrance to the estuary ($3) at the end of the beach - a great hike along a almost deserted beach but bring water, sunscreen & a towel. Walk the beach for one mile or so and visit the Taco bar for a snack, cool refreshments and shade. We had pizza at Nari's on arrival evening and brought in 'Chicken to Go' one evening - both were very good. Pay $5 (one way) for a Taxi to the Super Mercado to stock up for your stay. Make reservations at Gallo Fina for dinner - excellent. Be sure to eat at Longboards BBQ - Jeff, the proprietor makes all guests feel welcome in this relaxed atmosphere and the food is very good. Beer & liquor is 2X cost in the US so visit the duty free shop upon arrival at the airport and stock up. Pura Vida!
Property Manager Response: Response from Tropical Vacations Hi Tom - what a great and thorough review! Thanks for leaving all this valuable information for future renters. We are so glad you had a good stay and hope to see you again soon!
Bianca P. from Concord, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2016 We were a group of 6 who had the pleasure of enjoying this condo. The condo itself was beautiful with great views. Everything was in perfect condition. The condos are a really close walk to the beach and all the stores and restaurants. Every morning we are breakfast on the balcony overlooking the ocean. I can not rave enough how perfect the condo, location and amenities are. We hope to return to Tamarindo, and when we do we will definitely be back to Matapalo 603!
Property Manager Response: Response from Tropical Vacations Bianca - that's awesome! we are so glad you had not just a "good" but a "great" stay at Matapalo 603! We hope to see you again soon!
A guest from Houston, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2015 We absolutely loved staying here. Everything was beautifully designed and very clean. Extremely centrally located and very safe and secure. An amazing trip and stay in Tamarindo.

A guest from Campbell, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2015 We stayed for a week in this condo and it was simply amazing! The views are breathtaking, the Diria resort is absolutely beautiful and the condo itself is extremely elegant and very comfortable. Our time spent in Tamarindo and the nearby areas of Costa Rica made this one of the best vacations yet. We will be back!
A guest from La Canada Flintridge, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in July, 2015 the Matapalo #603 condo is beautiful. We are a family of five and we had so much room to spread out and relax. The views are wonderful both in the morning and at sunset. We enjoyed using the lagoon pool as well as the beach in front of the Diria Resort. Everything was clean and pristine. We did pay to have housekeeping come to the unit two times however they only came once. Also, on our last night there was no water at 10:00 PM. We had an early flight the next day and still no water in the morning. That may just be a Costa Rican thing - no true reflection on the property. We look forward to returning!
Property Manager Response: Response from Tropical Vacations Thank you for the great review and so glad you had a great time. The city did have some water shortages this summer with very little rain but it's definitely improving. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you again.
A guest from Dulles, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2015 Matapalo 603 is a beautiful condo and allowed our family of 6 to stay comfortably. Tamarindo is a town that has activities or you can just sit and enjoy the peace on your balcony !!! We will definitely return and I've already given my friends the link to RPM.
Property Manager Response: Response from Tropical Vacations Thank you for the great review and telling your friends!! We love to share our little piece of paradise and this wonderful luxury condo! See you soon.
A guest from Sauk Rapids, MN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2015 For seven of us there was more than enough space to be very, very comfortable. Beautiful view, close to beach and everything else in Tamarindo. Through property management we were able to arrange all the tours easily.
Mark L. from Crownsville, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in February, 2015 In simple terms #603 felt a bit like "home" after our 5 day visit and look forward to our return. All was fab and the location ; pool and patio view provided for an extra special stay.
Property Manager Response: Response from Tropical Vacations So glad you had a great time. We look forward to seeing you again!
Sara M. from Siquirres, Limon recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in April, 2014 Mi familia y yo quedamos muy a gusto con la estadía en el condominio Matapalo 603. Dejamos todo en orden. Nos gustaría volver y claro si lo recomendamos a nuestros amigos.
A guest from Kincardine, Ontario recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2013 This was a great vacation condo since we walked through the door. Everything was clean and all the necessities were provided: towels, linens, and kitchen wares. A short walk to the beach and many restaurants. Right beside a grocery store if you wanted to cook your own meals. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to have an amazing vacation in Tamarindo.
A guest from Lynchburg, Virginia recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in March, 2013 Tamarindo and Matapalo Condos are a wonderful way to enjoy a relaxing week. The breathtaking views from each condo are unforgettable and the area offers so many activities that a person can stay very busy or just spend time doing nothing. Everyone is very helpful, the area is safe and there are many delicious restaurants withing walking distance from which to choose. This is our second visit and we hope to return to this wonderful country because of its beauty but mainly because of the kind people. If and when we return we will definitely enjoy another vacation at the Matapalo Condos.
A guest from , Ontario recommends this property. Stayed for 34 days in January, 2013 Matapalo #603 was above and beyond our expectations. The 2 story unit was perfect for 2 couples staying together for 5 weeks and the 3rd bd/bath was great for our guests. We never tired of the magnificent view. Location outstanding, offering the opportunity for numerous excursions!!!!!! Staff terrific!!! We danced on our balcony at the occasional wedding. The weather, the beaches, the sunsets!!!!!!! We loved it!!!!!!!
A guest from Darien, CT recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in December, 2012 The Matapalo condo exceeded our families expectations ten fold. The location is right in the middle of Tamarindo which is a lively surf town. We rented Matapalo 602 and 603 for our extended family of 11 - 6 adults and 5 children (ages 6-14). The 6th floor allowed for an incredible view and let us feel away from the bustle of Tamarindo yet a quick elevator ride down allowed us to walk to excellent restaurants and fun shopping and the main beach area. The other HUGE perk staying here is that in addition to the amazing, gorgeous pool area in front of the condos, you have access to the Diria Hotel property pool, etc. These condos were extremely spacious, clean, updated, large patio (which we were able to set up a large table to seat 11 for xmas and new years dinners). We have done a fair amount of traveling around the world and this is a premium location. A home run place to stay.
Graham F. from Raleigh, 27612 recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 For first timers to Costa Rica, this place is optimal. You can use the El Diria hotel accomodations, close to everything, and the place is immaculate! You won't be dissapointed.
Ken & Tracy H. from Oliver, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in March, 2012 What a wonderful Country. Unfortunately you have ruined the potential for us to head anywhere else. Great accommodation, great food, great beach and great everything else. Keep Olman, just one more reason to heads to Tamarindo. We will be back!
Million-Dollar Property, tastefully decorated and equipped, great location
Daniel M. from San Jose, SJ recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2010 Matapalo 603 is a breathtaking two story penthouse fully equipped (it has TWO granite countertop kitchens, a whirlpool in the balcony, huge flat screen tvs, stereo, wifi, the works!) and elegantly decorated. Location is fantastic. Parking is ample and secure. My ONLY recommendation (not really a complaint as it is not a big issue) is that blackout blinds should be added to the the guest rooms, as the great Tamarindo sunshine could wake light sleepers.
Karen C. from San Ramon, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2009 The condo was in an excellent location in Tamarindo - just cross the pool area and we were on the Diria property with fabulous outdoor dining area and the beach. The condo was spacious, clean and very attractively decorated. Great place to stay!
