Villa Gauguin, Akumal
Gary M. from Marietta, GA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2016 Our vacation stay at Villa Gauguin was a most memorable experience. The home is stunning and the views even more so. Francisco and Gladys make you feel like family. We'll definitely return, soon.
A guest from Soquel, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in October, 2015 Our group of 8 arrved for our 10 day stay in Villa Gauguin & were delighted the entire stay. Francisco & Gladis were welcoming & attentive. They cooked fabulous meals for us & quietly kept everything clean & orderly. The home is beautifully outfitted throughout. WiFi was flawless, we had everything we needed & more. The location was great, a perfect balance of not too close & not too far away from Akumal.
Blake M. from Brooklyn,, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2014 We had a fantastic, relaxing week at Villa Gauguin. We were two families, totaling four adults and three young kids under 3.5 years, and everyone was comfortable. Maria from the management company was terrific in getting all our questions answered before we arrived. The caretakers, Francisco and Gladis, are wonderful, and I recommend having them cook for you at least one night (and defintely try their lemon cake). The pool was terrific for the kids, and even has a section that is "baby pool" depth, which was nice. (Though there is no protective fencing around the pool, so you do have to be on your toes with toddlers.) There is amazing snorkeling in the lagoon the house looks out on. The house is roughly equidistant between Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. (Hartwood and Mezzanine in Tulum are highly recommended.) We also had a fun day at Xcaret, a nearby ecopark. There is also a great beach cafe called La Buena Vida within walking distance of the villa, which has a fantastic happy hour, and the kids loved playing on the beach, and the beanbags and hammocks there. The only downside for families with toddlers or young children is that there is a spiral staircase that does not have a rail, but if you have young kids you are used to being extra-vigilant already. It did not affect our trip, but just an FYI.And amazing as the pictures are on the listing, they really don't do the view justice. Waking up to that view everyday, or lounging in the pool looking out over the water, was one of the best parts of our stay.
A guest from CO, recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in November, 2013 Absolutely stunning home, wonderful caretakers and cooks in Francisco and Gladys (ask them to cook the lobster dinner!), great location for snorkeling and relaxing away from the crowds. Akumal Villas was very helpful from start to finish.
A guest from SIMPSONVILLE, KY recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2013 This is an amazing house, but you should know the 5th bedroom has no closet or bathroom although there is a half-bath (toilet) just outside the door. It would be okay for teenagers or young adults, but they will need to use the shower in someones room. It's the only bedroom downstairs so it's not good for young children. We rent the house as a 4BR and all is good. There is no beach but the ocean is "right there" and most beautiful to look at. You get the morning sun, which we love, but by early afternoon the pool and patio are in shade, again, we love this! The on-site care tenders are wonderful and prepare a beautiful dinner!
Deane S. from Calgary,, Alberta recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2012 Overall the renatal experience was very good...the home itself was very nice...but needed a few repairs on a few of the features...The Master Bath shower had a leak preventing the hot water from reahing the faucet...Francisco the care taker fixed it quickly...also Francisco and his wife Gladys cooked for us twice...the meals they provided were some of the best we've ever had had while in Mexico...
Daniel L. from New Hamburg, Ontario, does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2011 The house was is so-so condition, run down, dirty windows, appliances on their last leg. Many tiles missing from the pool and our daughter got a very deep cut the first day there, which would have required stitches if it was not for crazy glue! Light bulbs out, yard was not well maintained as we would expect of a house of such grandeur and expense. We were not impressed by the caretaker or maid. Dishes were only done once in the morning, so ants were everywhere. Their kids left rocks all over the patio from playing. We ordered breakfast one day, not cheap and for some reason charged to go to Playa de Carmen when there is a Super Cheduari right up the road. We had alot of fresh squeezed juice left (delicious!)...came to get it later and it was gone! Bread would go missing as well? Overall, we all felt we got the impression we were interrupting these folks living down stairs, very strange. I think at one time they were motivated but have gotten lazy with their responsibilities. House was in a great location, views were terrific. Would not recommend anyone to stay however due to expense versus value.
A guest from Oregon City, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in April, 2008 we had an amazing time we strongly recomend the cook services the food was soooo good and they did every thing the house was beautiful it was hard to leave.
