Wonderful Stay on the Sound! A guest from Thorn Hill, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2012 Our girl's group enjoyed a wonderful stay here. The house was perfect for our needs. We especially enjoyed the porches and decks, and tried to be back every day in time to watch the glorious sunsets with a cocktail or glass of wine. We did find that the dining table was a little large for the space, with chairs that were uncomfortable to sit on. But this was easy enough to overlook, as we were happy to sit out on the screened porch and watch the many dolphins and pelicans. Would stay here again. |

Another great stay at Pelican Pass Scott A. from Lenoir City, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2012 I definitely would recommend Pelican Pass to anyone needing a smaller, nice rental on Edisto Beach. (hard to find on beach front on Edisto) It's a nice place, good part of the beach (on the sound), good parking, access, etc. Only two problems, and they were slight. The back door locks were so corroded (I know it happens on beach front) the key could not be inserted. They still locked ok from the inside, but when were on the beach we either had to leave one back door unlocked or go round to the front to get in. The second problem was the lack of a DVD remote in the living room. It appears the cable company had recently upgraded the cable boxes and provided a "universal" remote (which never are universal despite what the installers say). So we were able to get the TV switched to DVD input with the remote (with considerable effort) but could only use the buttons on the player itself for control, and there weren't many-just play and stop. So we could not use the DVD menus or skip to a chapter, etc. I suppose we could have got out the remote manual (a small book) and do some setup, but it wasn't worth it. [this is more of a rant against cable installers who tell you to toss out all your other remotes] |

Stayed for 6 days in October, 2011 we got everything we were looking for from our Edisto vacation-Dolphins left the sound early in the morning and returned in the afternoon. They got about 10-15 feet from the beach-The most beautiful sunsets you can imagine every day--everybody seemed to come to our section of the beach to watch them-house was clean and well-maintained.-HUGE charcoal weber grill-We came in late October and there were tons of butterflies-Hemingway's ocean, not Paris Hilton's. Lots of rugged beauty.-Enough things to do that we filled up a week with seeing the sights on the island and still felt like we could spend plenty of time and not get bored.-easy access to bike path--although pretty much every rental seems to have that. |

It's hard to find a nice 2 or 3 bedroom beachfront rental on Edisto, so Pelican Pass is a great find. just a few maintenance items-the decks need painting, a light wasn't working (top of stairs), and some of the texture was falling off the bath ceiling.I wish all of lower deck was rain proof, but that's a pretty minor complaint, and would be expensive to do I'm sure. Great location as well. |

The stay and weather were lovely but you may need a new water heater at our rental. There were 4 senior ladies staying there an A guest from Knoxville, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2011 the end of our visit we just gave up. But they did try. I do not know what was going on. Not very clean A guest from Lexington, SC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2010 The biggest problems with the unit were:Dishwasher was full of sand. Had to run it multiple times empty to get it clean.Upstair porch railing is very unstable.Twin beds were filthy. Urine on both beds and vomit on a pillow. Linens were filthy. Because this room wasn't usable, my 7 month pregnant daughter had to sleep on the sleeper sofa.Linens on the other beds were dirty.Bath mats were dirty so I washed them. Because they are worn out it caused a mess in the washer and dryer. I called to report these items before I checked out. I was told that if I had called at check-in they would have assisted us. That was helpful to know, but it didn't improve the quality of the stay. As always check-in and check-out were easy. My only comment is that D Side is lacking in microwaveable plates, bowls, and mugs.
