NOTE: We'll be at our home in France this summer until late July (see the link to that beautiful rental at the end of this description). We will not be opening the cottage until August 9th. We sincerely hope this isn't a big inconvenience to our former guests who usually enjoy the cottage during late spring and early summer.
Now with new 32" flat screen TV and blindingly fast WIFI wireless Internet!
Very private cottage with full kitchen on 40 beautiful acres of orchards, woods and meadows! But the Sister Bay Marina, shops and restaurants are just down the hill.

Look what MIDWEST LIVING magazine has to say about Door County in its June 2007 issue, which ranks Door on top of its list of "small-town getaways!!"
“Who needs New England? The Midwest has its own coastal charm around the Great Lakes, and our top towns, located in Door County, are the best examples of it. The 80-mile-long Door Peninsula extends into Lake Michigan on Wisconsin’s east side, creating more than 300 miles of coastline.
“Tucked into this shore are lighthouses, 30 beaches, five state parks, golf courses and pretty towns seemingly plucked straight from a painting."

Once housing for migrant laborers who picked cherries and apples in the orchards, the cottage was renovated in the late 1970's and with another complete renovation in 2000. A small area of the laborers' graffiti is preserved on the wall of the kitchen. The cottage features a large carpeted living area and separate bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Outside is a picnic table and small grill.
The Madsengaard (Danish for Madsen farm) Cottage features 33 acres in woodland conservancy with 1+ miles of well-marked nature trails. Enjoy birds, butterflies, wildflowers and the fall colors, while still being a short walk from Sister Bay.
All of northern Door County is a fascinating and beautiful place with lots of activities. Aside from the beaches and State Parks on both sides of the Door peninsula, there is the Birch Creek Music Festival June through August, plays at Peninsula Players in Egg Harbor summer through fall, wonderful classes at the Peninsula Art School (PAS) in Fish Creek and The Clearing in Ellison Bay. Not to mention all the delightful shops and galleries scattered throughout for the avid shopper or art lover!
Outdoor sports abound with hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, golf, boating and more.
There are also several great restaurants in Sister Bay--the famous Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant (a must), the Norwegian Sister Bay Cafe, or how about a romantic sunset dinner at the Inn at Kristofer across from the Marina. Be sure to try Door County Ice Cream for lunch or a pizza (not to mention the fab ice cream!)and the Sister Bay Bowl (yes the bowling alley) for their Tuesday and Friday "broasted" perch special--get there early or prepare for a wait!
