Resort: Sanxenxo, tourist capital of Rias Baixas, is situated in the Vale del Salnes, in the area north of the Ria de Pontevedra and south of the Ria de Arousa. The natural beauty of the area, the humid ocean climate and a wide variety of quality services have made this district one of the most important tourist centres in Galicia. Important fiestas: Fiesta de San Roque is celebrated from 14 to 19 August and has been celebrated for many centuries. Fiesta da Raia, which has been celebrated for more than 10 years every weekend prior to the Easter week (although this can vary). For these fiestas, a large area is sectioned off in the quayside so you can try typical dishes of Portonovo, the best caldeirada in the world, as well as whole sardines. There is also the Annual Motorbike gathering which takes place every year on the 2nd weekend in September, where motorcyclists come from all over Spain and abroad. There are spectacular acrobatic shows with motorbikes and cars.
