Wonderful weekend at the beach
A guest from Beaverton, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2016 We had a great trip and very much enjoyed the house. It was plenty of room for our party of 6 adults and 5 small children. It was well equipped and clean. About 2 blocks to the beach, there is a path through some grass to get down to the water. We were missing some supplies but they were delivered right away. Would love to stay again!
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and hope we can help you plan your next vacation here at the beach.
A guest from Edmonds, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in December, 2015 We rented the Sandpiper for six nights over New Year's. The house was comfortable, clean and roomy enough for our group of 6 adults and 2 children. The kitchen was well equipped. The house is located at then end of a dead end street so it was very quiet. While no view of the ocean you had a private wooded view from the back of the house. It was only about a 2 block walk to the beach which was convenient. The house was about a mile from the main street in Manzanita. We would definitely consider staying here again.
A guest from Tigard, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in November, 2015 The Sandpiper house was suitable for our family Thanksgiving celebration. The kitchen is well equipped (except for chipped dinner plates), the dining area spacious, the gas fireplace is nice on cold fall evenings and there is an abundance of linens. There is only a half bath adjacent to the guest room on the first floor, which was a problem for a family member who has difficulty going up and down stairs. The website does not define the extent of the half bath (no shower) or that bathing facilities are limited to the 2nd floor. Also, there is little room to maneuver around the king bed in the first floor guest room and no room for baggage and hanging of clothing in the closet, which is filled with a mostly unused dresser and lamps. Substituting a queen bed and removing the dresser would enhance the comfort of this room. We suggest that persons with mobility issues consider other rental homes in the Manzanita area. The beach is within two blocks of the house and easily accessible.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and will forward your concerns and reccommendations to the owner regarding the King bedroom. We will also update our online description to clarify there is no shower on the main lever. We hope we can help you plan your next vacation here at the beach.
A guest from Portland, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2015 Great house, perfect for our needs...3 couples with 4 children. The kids had their own bunk room (with a tv). Very close to beach. Walkable to town but not super close. Outdoor fire pit, which we did not use, but I still appreciated that it was there. The house was very clean and we will definitely stay here again!
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals Thank you for your review of Sandpiper. We are so glad you enjoyed your day and hope we can help you with your future vacations here in Manzanita.
A guest from Beaverton, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2015 It was further away from town (.5 mile) then we are used to but only 2 blocks from the beach. This isn't a negative, but when you have teens and young adults they tend to gravitate to the action of the town.
A guest from Battle Ground, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2015 The house was comfortable, clean and roomy. It accommodated our group of 11 very well. There was plenty of kitchen dishes, utensils and pots and pans. If we come back to this area this house will be top of our list.
Mamie D. from Milwaukie, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2015 We held our "Married Couples Retreat" here, and the home was beautiful, close to the beach, and walkable to the charming Manzanita will be a repeat rental for us over the future years, Great for a large family, a reunion or any large gathering you intend to share a coastal experience with!
George K. from Dassel, MN recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2015 Two young families and grandparents enjoyed the spacious home for three nights. Short walk to the beach. Clean and everything in working order. Close to coastal attractions without the crowds.
Leanne L. from Portland, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2015 Everything was perfect. The pictures of the house don't do it justice. The layout is nice, plenty of room for everyone. Love the open kitchen and living room. Especially love that its pet friendly, would definitely stay again. The house is at the end of a dead end so lots of privacy and quiet. A very short walk to the beach. The kitchen was well equipped with dishes for our large group. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A guest from Oregon City, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2014 We enjoyed our stay. my sister wants to rent this place. the only problem we had was the dryer did not dry to well. But beside that we had a great time. The women at sunset rentals were perfect.
Gail L. from Milton Freewater, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2014 The house was lovely, clean, comfortable and nicer than the pictures online! It is not real far to the beach. I would definitely consider staying again and recommend it to friends. Loved that it is a pet friendly house with a 4 car limit, as well.
A guest from Bonita Springs, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 31 days in August, 2014 We were delighted to enjoy a month with our best weather during the past 8 years of renting on the coast during late AUG & SEPT. We enjoyed the wooded area off the back yard with the cutest little squirrels and an occasional deer. The fireplace added a coastal ambience during a few chilly evenings. The foosball game in the garage was lots of fun.My only major critic would be the carpeting condition. I would recommend a hard surface for all the floors for cleaner coastal living. The travertine in the kitchen and dining area was super. The wifi and cable TV were excellent amenities. It was our pleasure to enjoy the salty air of coastal Oregon and rent this comfortable home.
A guest from Yakima, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2014 Our family of 8 including two young kids really enjoyed this home. Wonderful kitchen open to the living room and dining room. The street was super quiet and we walked to the beach with no problem.
Roxann B. from Kennewick, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in August, 2014 We it all love the house, it was perfect for all of us. The kitchen is truly well stocked with everything you'll need. I loved watching all the different kinds of birds plus bunny's and dear. Great home!
Jeanette H. from Milton, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2014 Large family reunions require us to rent two homes, and the Sandpiper was one. Everyone was pleased with the home, and it was large enough that we could all gather under one roof for one meal. Short walk to beach, town, and second rental home. Will strongly consider renting again.
A guest from Beaverton, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2014 We really enjoyed our stay in this house. The house is located at the end of a quiet street, near to town and near to the golf course. Everything was clean and in working order. The fire pit is also a nice addition for catching up with family and friends in the evenings. Highly recommend this place
A guest from Bozan, MT recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2014 Manzanita is a fantastic little town and this home is in a great spot. Just a block away from the ocean, right next to the golf course and near enough to the main street, stores etc that you can walk over. The beach at Manzanita is amazing, miles of sand in both directions. The house was clean and well setup. We had three sets of adult couples so it was nice to find a place with three larger beds. One of the baths is a half bath so we had to share a shower, which was fine for us, but might be tougher if you add kids to the mix. The foosball table was a lot of fun too!
A guest from Gresham, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2013 The house was very nice and had plenty of room. Freezing cold outside, but with the fireplace we stayed warm in the house!
A guest from Rock Hill, SC recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2013 3 great days with family ranging from 3 to 85 years. The house is well equipped and comfortable. The kids loved the fire pit. The older folks found the walk to the beach a challenge, but managed ok. Only complaint: the downstairs bedroom doesn't have access to a full bath, requiring elderly family members to use the stairs.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in September, 2013 We had a great stay at Sandpiper. There is a fire pit in the back yard which lends to marshmallows and star gazing. There were a few issues with supplies, but we booked at the last minute. We will be back.
Marilyn S. from Boise, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2013 This home is located about a block from the beach and about a half mile from the main street in Manzanita (a lovely walk by the beach and/or golf course). It is spacious, has lots of dishes, glassware, tableware and cookware. The firepit is a real plus for those who enjoy good conversation and the occasional roasted marshmallow! It is on a very quiet street, tucked away from the traffic. The weather was grand and our family's get-together was superb! Thank you Sunset Rentals!
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2013 We are six close friends who spent an idyllic long weekend here. Loved the short walk to the beach and the quiet location. The kitchen was great. We were able to cook fantastic meals and we enjoyed the back deck tremendously. We're considering making it an annual event.
Christine B. from Happy Valley, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2012 The house was super cozy and well outfitted. Our favorite feature was the location (close to the state park boat launch) and the garage. Only complaint is the stove/oven - cooking was difficult. The stove never got hot enough to cook bacon and boiling water took a very, very long time. It doesn't seem like all of the burners are functional. Dishwasher, on the other hand, was AMAZING - so quiet!
Susan T. from Lakewood, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 This is a very comfortable house. We would rent again but wonder why the owners haven't fixed the squeaky bed that others have noted in reviews. It seems like a new frame would do it. Also note their is no tea kettle....only a minor inconvenience. It seems that could easily be added as well. The biggest issue for us was no wifi that we had not expected to have to deal with. We all felt that the owners could charge a bit more for this and thus really make their place more user friendly. We loved the fire pit in the back yard. I would have loved a deck in the front yard as many other properties have. it is so sunny and warm in the front yard. Once again my thought would be to charge a bit more and make some upgrades that would just make this place perfect.
Linda S. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in June, 2012 Lovely structural layout.Plenty of room for the 8 of us.Nice firepit in backyard. We enjoyed it almost every evening.2 block walk to the beach; easy access.Well equipped kitchen. Sturdy cookware, utensils, and implements. Improvements: Supply a tea kettle and blender. Downstairs queen bed so squeaky that only one person could sleep in it. The other used the couch. Would like to see this repaired. We have done these family gatherings at a rented Manzanita house for four years. This was the best house yet; it gave us plenty of room to move around, a degree of privacy, and 3 bathrooms. The house was well cared for, attractive set-up, nice beach decor, and in all-around good condition. Area was quiet at night. If we learn that the downstairs queen bed has been repaired, we will request to rent next year.
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2012 We had a wonderful vacation with 2 other families. There is space to spread out indoors and outdoors. Great amenities. The kids loved the 3 bunk room complete with a TV/DVD and Atari. The dads loved the proximity to the golf course. Short walk to the beach was key for us. Wish it was a little closer to town but with 3 families it wasn't important.
A guest from Sublimity, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2012 Overall this was a nice house! I feel like the outdoor space could use some work. It was nice to have the fire pit, but the yard wasn't very welcoming. I think it needs a deck or patio large enough for more than 2 to sit.
A guest from West Linn, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2012 We were very pleased with this vacation home. It was clean, beautifully decorated and the kitchen was very well equipped.Comfortable beds! Sits at end of quiet, no-outlet street, perfect for kids. Loved proximity to walking paths and beach. Highly recommend.
Mark R. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2012 great value - very clean, updated and stylish home just a few blocks from one of the loveliest, dune-protected stretches of manzanita beach. we celebrated our daughter's 13th birthday by bringing five of her friends, and they all stayed in the bunk room and had a great time. plenty of room for the rest of the family, still, and the open kitchen/great room/dining room made for a very fun atmosphere while in the house. highly recommended for slightly bigger gatherings at the beach. note, there's no view of the ocean (though you can hear it from the house), but for the price, this property can't be beat. and, the folks at SVR were really great to deal with.
Linden C. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2011 We spent a very pleasant November weekend at the sandpiper along with another family. The house was great for our two families with 5 young children.
cozy and comfy place to stay! only 2 mins from the beach!
Lynn W. from Walla Walla, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2011 My family and I were very happy with the Sandpiper. Very comfortable and very clean. The house is decorated tastefully and only 2 mins from the beach and not very far from downtown.
Alan P. from Boise, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in September, 2011 We found the home in very good condition and all the amenities we needed. We would recommend Sunset Vacation Rentals to our family and friends.
A guest from Tucson, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2011 Our stay was enjoyable and the house was perfect for our family of 10. Our only problem was garbage. The can was full when we arrived so we had no where to put garbage for a couple of days and when we left we had to leave an over full can . Since we were flying home we couldn't take bottles etc. to be recycled or deal with excess garbage. Perhaps a second can would solve this problem. I would return to this house again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals In the future, please give us a call and we will take care of the garbage for you. Glad you had a great stay!
Peggy M. from Salt Lake City, UT recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2011 My daughter accidently left with a TV remote in her suitcase (how do these things happen?)and I had to call the emergency # upon return home. They were courteous and helpful and I sent it back FedEx to the office. Great kitchen to host family reunion dinners, great proximity to beach, adequate detergent and soaps for a week stay, lots of towels and bedding, well equipped kitchen made me the happiest of all.
A guest from Lake Oswego, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2011 This house was perfect for our large group - lots of space for everyone. Easy walk to best beach in Oregon. Could use some outdoor furniture - table and chairs so you could eat outside. Other than that, it is well stocked with everything you need.
Charleen T. from Lake Oswego, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2011 Our stay at the Sandpiper could not have been any better. The house was perfect for our group, close to the beach, well supplied & a very nice home. Sunset Vacation Rental staff was extremely helpful for our needs & situation. We were able to have a great family birthday surprise because of the house & people who helped us. I would highly recommend this to anyone!
Michele Z. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2011 This house is gorgeous all around; beautifully and tastefully furnished, immaculately clean, and has a dream kitchen that is fully stocked. So comfortable, and has a great layout for entertaining. The kids adored the room with 3 bunkbeds. Beautiful natural area outside the windows; you don't look at any other houses. Cozy backyard with a firepit, and a nice gas grill. Not on the beach, but on a quiet deadend street only a block away. A great house for sharing with one or two other families. Can't say enough good things about Sandpiper; we will definitely be back. The only problem was that it was difficult to have to go home to my own house, which pales by comparison.
Kathi A. from Portland, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2011 This is a great house located at the the end of the street. Although it is not on the beach, we had a great time playing in the street and felt safe letting our kids run around outside.
Kelsey M. from Oakville, Ont. Canada recommends this property. Stayed for 18 days in August, 2010 This home was a perfect spot for our small family reunion of 6 adults & 3 children. All amenities were supplied for us, and the location great for beach access, town access, and the golf course. An ideal rental, and we hope to be back next year. Thanks Sunset, your service was excellent.
A guest from Moscow, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2010 This home was perfect, along with the Bella Mar, for our family to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary and the 4th of July. The home had a good gathering place for a group of 15 and was located just a quick walk to the beach. Very satisfied with the property. Thanks!
Christina S. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in January, 2010 Close to the ocean. New construction but no real character in the house and too far away from town for people with small children.
Camille V. from Ridgefield, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2009 We celebrated New Year's with 3 other couples and had a gret time! The men liked the close proximity to the golf course and the women liked the nearby shopping. This home is a perfect vacation home and it's in a very quiet location on a dead end street. The staff at the rental company were extremely helpful throughout the process. We will rent from them again and we will definately stay at Sandpiper again.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2009 We were very happy with the Sandpiper property and its condition and furnishings. Well maintained, uncluttered and new construction. Unfortunately, we experienced an investation of bugs on the 2nd night of our stay. Sunset was able to move us in the middle of the night, but overall experience of finding bugs in our belongings on the 2nd floor was traumatic. While Sunset found us another property, the re-packing of everything and moving an infant for our last night was a hassle and Sunset was not very willing to compensate us for the inconvenience. Exterminator was called upon our departure. In any case, we still love the town of Manzanita and its beautiful beach.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals Due to the uncommon humid weather at the coast, the whole town had a problem with moisture ants. We were so glad to be able to move these guests to one of our elite homes to compensate for the last minute move. We went right in and eliminated the bug problem, and am happy to report no more occurances.
