Manzanita - This beautiful four bedroom two and a half bath custom built home has it all! Just 1-1/2 blocks to beach and short walk to golf course, state park and town. This home sits at the end of Sandpiper Lane, a ?no thru traffic? street surrounded by forest; very quiet and safe for kids. Enter the home through a large foyer and see the view of trees from the great room?s windows. Specially selected furniture is placed around the custom river rock fireplace to ensure coziness. The kitchen features upscale stainless steel appliances, rich cherry cabinetry and luxurious travertine flooring. Master bedroom has a King size bed, TV and DVD player. The attached master bath features double sinks and private toilet and shower. First and second guest rooms are beautifully furnished with queen beds. One located on the ground floor and the other upstairs. The third guest room sleeps six and features three bunk beds, TV and DVD/VCR. Makes a great kids room! The upstairs bath features a large soaker tub/shower. Beach décor adds charm throughout the home. Hang out on the back covered patio, equipped with a gas barbeque and Adirondack chairs and enjoy the singing birds and occasional local deer.. Our favorite feature was the location (close to the state park boat launch) and the garage. Only complaint is the stove/oven - cooking was difficult. The stove never got hot enough to cook bacon and boiling water took a very, very long time. It doesn't seem like all of the burners are functional. Dishwasher, on the other hand, was AMAZING - so quiet! |

We would rent again but wonder why the owners haven't fixed the squeaky bed that others have noted in reviews. It seems like a new frame would do it. Also note their is no tea kettle....only a minor inconvenience. It seems that could easily be added as well. The biggest issue for us was no wifi that we had not expected to have to deal with. We all felt that the owners could charge a bit more for this and thus really make their place more user friendly. We loved the fire pit in the back yard. I would have loved a deck in the front yard as many other properties have. it is so sunny and warm in the front yard. Once again my thought would be to charge a bit more and make some upgrades that would just make this place perfect. |

Stayed for 9 days in June, 2012 Lovely structural layout.Plenty of room for the 8 of us.Nice firepit in backyard. We enjoyed it almost every evening.2 block walk to the beach; easy access.Well equipped kitchen. Sturdy cookware, utensils, and implements. Improvements: Supply a tea kettle and blender. Downstairs queen bed so squeaky that only one person could sleep in it. The other used the couch. Would like to see this repaired. We have done these family gatherings at a rented Manzanita house for four years. This was the best house yet; it gave us plenty of room to move around, a degree of privacy, and 3 bathrooms. The house was well cared for, attractive set-up, nice beach decor, and in all-around good condition. Area was quiet at night. If we learn that the downstairs queen bed has been repaired, we will request to rent next year. |

Great amenities. The kids loved the 3 bunk room complete with a TV/DVD and Atari. The dads loved the proximity to the golf course. Short walk to the beach was key for us. Wish it was a little closer to town but with 3 families it wasn't important. |

Stayed for 2 days in February, 2012 great value - very clean, updated and stylish home just a few blocks from one of the loveliest, dune-protected stretches of manzanita beach. we celebrated our daughter's 13th birthday by bringing five of her friends, and they all stayed in the bunk room and had a great time. plenty of room for the rest of the family, still, and the open kitchen/great room/dining room made for a very fun atmosphere while in the house. highly recommended for slightly bigger gatherings at the beach. note, there's no view of the ocean (though you can hear it from the house), but for the price, this property can't be beat. and, the folks at SVR were really great to deal with. |

Our only problem was garbage. The can was full when we arrived so we had no where to put garbage for a couple of days and when we left we had to leave an over full can . Since we were flying home we couldn't take bottles etc. to be recycled or deal with excess garbage. Perhaps a second can would solve this problem. I would return to this house again. They were courteous and helpful and I sent it back FedEx to the office. Great kitchen to host family reunion dinners, great proximity to beach, adequate detergent and soaps for a week stay, lots of towels and bedding, well equipped kitchen made me the happiest of all. |

So comfortable, and has a great layout for entertaining. The kids adored the room with 3 bunkbeds. Beautiful natural area outside the windows; you don't look at any other houses. Cozy backyard with a firepit, and a nice gas grill. Not on the beach, but on a quiet deadend street only a block away. A great house for sharing with one or two other families. Can't say enough good things about Sandpiper; we will definitely be back. The only problem was that it was difficult to have to go home to my own house, which pales by comparison. |

Lovely property, but had bugs A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2009 We were very happy with the Sandpiper property and its condition and furnishings. Well maintained, uncluttered and new construction. Unfortunately, we experienced an investation of bugs on the 2nd night of our stay. Sunset was able to move us in the middle of the night, but overall experience of finding bugs in our belongings on the 2nd floor was traumatic. While Sunset found us another property, the re-packing of everything and moving an infant for our last night was a hassle and Sunset was not very willing to compensate us for the inconvenience. Exterminator was called upon our departure. In any case, we still love the town of Manzanita and its beautiful beach. Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals Due to the uncommon humid weather at the coast, the whole town had a problem with moisture ants. We were so glad to be able to move these guests to one of our elite homes to compensate for the last minute move. We went right in and eliminated the bug problem, and am happy to report no more occurances. |
