great weather weekend
A guest from Heppner, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2016 The whole place was very clean, neat and tidy. House has kind of a funky layout but it worked well for us. The view is amazing from the deck. Hot tub was dirty but Maintenance took care of it in a timely manner. A little dated in some areas and updated in others. Overall a great place that can sleep 14 quite comfortably as we had quite a few kids. Check in/out was very easy. The Extra fees when you book tack on quite a bit of cost over the 'advertised' price. On a quiet street so kids riding bikes was safe. We happened to hit a great weather weekend which also made the experience quite enjoyable.
A guest from Beaverton, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2015 We had a large family gathering and there was plenty of space. I enjoyed the open views from both levels of the home. Some outside maintenane of the grill, hot tub jets, and deck area would be my suggestions for improvement.
Christy F. from Houston, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2015 Home:The Bella Vista home was a perfect location for our whole family to get together over the Christmas holiday. It had plenty of space for the kids to play and lots of rooms. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, necessities, plenty of spices, and even some unexpected extras (like a coffee grinder, and big griddle for making pancakes for all). We just made a big grocery run at the beginning of the week and then cooked nearly all our meals together at the the house. Overall the home was clean and fairly well maintained. We only had a minor issue of the hot tub cover blowing off several times when the storm winds picked up (even with safety bar across it and chained down) and the deck railing needs some repair.Weather: December is the rainy / stormy season for this region, and we had a great storm blow through the day after our arrival. The expansive windows on both floors facing the ocean made for a great view of the huge waves and wind! There were also several calm days when we went down and walked the beach. Just note that getting to the beach is a bit of a hike down a somewhat steep, sandy hill. Location:The location couldn't have been better. The main street in Manzanita is a short walk or even shorter drive from the house. There are lots of cute shops, two grocery stores, and several small restaurants all close together. For day trips we headed 20 min North to beautiful Cannon Beach one day, and about 40min South to tour the Tillamook Cheese Factory and walk out to see the breathtaking views at the Cape Meares Lighthouse. I would love to return here and check it again in the spring/summer.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and hope we can help you plan your next vacation here at the beach. We will let the homeowner know of the deck railing issue and will get it fixed immediately.
Jen J. from Mount Vernon, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2015 Great house with room for 12 of us. We came from all over so there there were 5 cars and there was plenty of parking. We only got this house because our usual house in Manzinita was rented and now we want to make this our usual house!!
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals Thank you for your review of Bella Vista. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay. We hope we can help you with a future reservation.
Barb O. from La Porte, IN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2015 It's a great place for our family of 13, 7 of whom are grandkids. Had around 40 extended family 4 dinner, plenty of room.
Emily J. from Washington, DC recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2015 I planned a bachelorette party with a group of 14 outdoorsie ladies and everyone loved this house!! The upstairs kitchen/living room area is nice and open, great for big group hang-outs even if someone has to be in the kitchen. Stunning view from the hot tub and balcony! The hike down to the beach is crazy steep but kinda fun for that reason (just don't plan on going back and forth a bunch). We had an awesome bonfire on the beach and a great day hike in Oswald West state park. A little confusion with the key pick-up when coming into town because it turns out it is in a lock-box, but no biggie, we figured it out :)
A guest from Weston, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2014 Wonderful home with more than enough space for our 8 adults and 6 children (under 6 yrs. old) Well stocked with many towels, linens, cookware...everything you could need. There was not any place to put the dry foods we brought from home so we had to put it all on the formal dining table and not use it for eating. The home would benefit vacationers by having some shelving installed for that purpose. Also, with so many of us for a full week, we ran out of garbage space quickly in the one garbage can out by the garage. It is easy to walk down the hill in the very soft sand to get to the beach, but as others have said, it is a bit of a challenge to get back up the hill. It discouraged me from going down there as often as I would have liked (I'm 55 yrs. and in good condition). Overall, it was a wonderful house and fit our needs very well. Loved it. The view is amazing. Would highly recommend it!
Val G. from Boise, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in August, 2014 Great accomodations and plenty of room for the 8 of us that stayed there. Don't understand how you could sleep 14 as the add suggests. The property was clean and well maintained and we had a great time, I would recommend it to others traveling to Manzanita.
Jason F. from Dallas, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2014 Very nice house with plenty of room for 10 adults. The views of the ocean are spectacular. We never turned the TV on. Sitting on the deck and looking at the ocean is enjoyment enough.
A guest from Ridgefield, WA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2013 This is the 3rd or 4th time I have stayed at Bella Visa and I have to say I will not be returning. In the past we have always been very happy with everything but this time the place was not very clean. There was a pair of mens underwear in between the sink and the wall in the bathroom above the garage. There was long dark hairs found in the downstairs bathroom. The silverware drawer had crumbs in it and a glass pirex dish looked like it hadn't been washed. One morning we went to make pancakes and neither of the two presto griddles worked. The hot tub worked but there were little bearings (size of BB's) in the bottom of the hot tub. Unfortunately we wont be staying here again. :(
A guest from Bainbridge Island, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in September, 2013 We had fun visiting with family over dinner and board games. Plenty of room for everyone at the table. Additional game table allowed us to leave our games set up at meal time. Views of the beach were sensational. Plenty of room for all.
A guest from Hood River, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2013 Rented this house for a 3 day mini-reunion/21st bday celebration for my son. It was perfect in all ways. House has everything you need. Hot tub was clean and ran well. There are instructions for all the electronics/fireplace/ etc, which is helpful. We spotted whales from the hot tub and witnessed both a lovely sunset and an amazing lightening storm from the incredible ocean view deck. The beach is accessible from a steep sandy path, not good if you have stroller or elderly folks. It's a short steep walk back up the path, but you can also walk back through town. We would definitely rent this place again. SSV was very easy to work with. Thanks!
Kathy A. from Surprise, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2013 We had an awesome time at the house. The layout was perfect for our needs and gave us plenty of room to spread out and have individual space if needed. The view was phenomenal
A guest from San Antonio, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2012 We had a great time. The pack and play should have had an upper deck as our baby was only 4 months old! The house was pretty much as advertised and we were not disappointed.
Janet V. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2012 Absolutely loved it! A perfect place for a ladies weekend! Literally down a sand dune and two blocks to downtown Manzanita! We had a such a great time - we're going to rent it again!
Second time here was so disappointing! Sad, sad house.
A guest from Hood River, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 5 days in November, 2011 We stayed at this house 3 years ago and had a wonderful time. When we got to the house this year, there was a horrible mold smell in the downstairs bedrooms and hall. The hall carpet was soaking wet. We assumed it was due to the rain storm and reported it to SSVR the next morning. It turns out that the water heater had been leaking.(kudos to SSVR for getting it replaced that day) The roof was leaking in several places- there was a bowl with a towel in the middle of the living room to catch one of the leaks. The back windows were leaking as well. The bedding was worn and the towels were all old and frayed. The kitchen was still fine but one skillet is not sufficient for 9 people staying there. We ended up having to leave a day early as the mold was making 3 of our guests sick. This is a nice home in a great location that has been sadly neglected and is in need of repair. I hope that the owners show it some TLC.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals Thank you for your feedback. Both the smell and wet carpet was to due to the water heater leaking on the day of guest check in. We immediately replaced the water heater and cleaned up the water. I am pleased to let you know the smell definetely isn't mold, just musty from the water leak. It has been cleaned up, dried and good as new! There were a few leaks found due to the heavy rains we have had, but the owners took immediate action to repair them. There are plenty of new bedding and towels and also the owner purchased several new frying pans.
Kim S. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2011 The home was spotless, amazing view on the hillside, yet still within walking distance to the beach. Perfect spot for a group to lounge and enjoy! The managing staff are wonderful. We were extremely happy with the cleanliness and upkeep of the house.
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in November, 2010 Lots of snow delayed a few family members from this trip but everyone made it in time for Thanksgiving. The house has a beautiful view of the ocean (hence the name) and we all enjoyed our stay. Several issues to improve on - the direction brochure says that we need to provide our own wood but the house rules said that wood was provided (it was in the garage). We also had a circuit blow on us but couldn't locate the circuit breaker wher the circuit was blown. Found one circuit in the laudnry room but none were tripped. Without power for several days for a portion of the house. Suspect a second circuit breaker is behind a locked door in the garage - not a good plan.
Derek M. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2010 Princess Jenni @ SSVR was incredibly helpful, generous and catering to our needs. They made it easy and fun to find the perfect house for our family event! Everybody LOVED the Bella Vista! It's cozy, yet big enough to accomodate about 80 guests that came to our family event! It was a little bit hard to arrange a way for out guests to get there without disturbing the neighbors or violating the parking rule, but it all worked out! We WILL be back!!
Jenny P. from Saint Louis, MO recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in September, 2009 Last year we stayed for a full week and this year only four days. We were all so sad to leave. The house is wonderful!! The view from so many rooms is spectacular.
A guest from Portland, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2009 No screens on windows or sliding glass doors -- lots of bugs. Inadequate storage space for food in kitchen.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals Most homes that have an ocean view do not have screens on the windows because it hinders the view.
Rebecca Z. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2009 The great room is just that really great! Nice layout for cooking and socializing. The house was very clean and the kitchen was well set up with many utensils and cooking tools. Beach access is very close, very quiet location, but close to town..you can walk to the beach and walk to main street of Manzanita in about 15 minutes. Stunning views from the balcony and lots of good heating sources, so a winter stay would be lovely as well. Nicely furnished with leather couches, comfy chairs, dining options. Beds are comfortable. Hot tub was clean. Now for the suggestions: Firewood is actually provided, but management company said it was $5 per bundle..not a big deal, but it would have been nice not to spend the extra $15 for wood. Also, management company said you needed to drive to the beach...actually there is a well travelled walking path to the beach about 20 feet away, so easily walkable by most people. One weird paper towels is a pretty expensive rental, and some paper towels would have been lovely. Also, the scents used in the house..airfresheners, what have you, are not natural..the synthetic perfumes are a bit much. Of course , this is my opinion, and perhaps you are sorry you asked.
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2009 Thank you for a great family vacation. We had four families with 3 small children stay at Bella Vista. Everyone had a fantastic time and the house was perfect for our needs.
A guest from Yardley, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2009 This house, in this location was ideal for our multi-generational family vacation. The house had every amenity we could have possibly wanted or needed. There was room to be together and room to get away from the crowd. The views were amazing and the distance from the town and the beach perfect for us. We hope to return to this house whenever we can get the whole family together for another trip to the Oregon Coast. The only downside was that the hills were difficult to navigate with a stroller because they were so steep.
Jennifer H. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2009 This was the second visit to Bella Vista and we plan to return soon. The view is outstanding from the bedrooms, living room, sunroom, and kitchen. We especially enjoyed the night view of the stars and ocean from the hot tub after the kids were tucked in bed.I highly recommend this property to a friend or family get away. There is enough room to have a quiet moment with a book or to join in the fun and activities with other guests.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2009 We had 14 women stay for the weekend, and everyone ooohed and ahhhed about the house. It was clean, well-stocked and beautifully decorated. It was the perfect house for a large group because the common areas were big enough that everyone could relax together, cooking, hanging out or eating, yet there were enough private areas that people could get away for some alone time, naps, etc. Also a good beach house for a rainy weekend (not that that ever happens on the oregon coast!). It was spectacular to watch the weather roll in over the ocean from the living room's huge windows, not to mention sitting in the hot tub watching the waves. I couldn't have hoped for a better beach house - looking forward to getting back here some time in the future!
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2009 The views are fantastic in this comfortable home and are a source of entertainment in themselves. It is a great house for a family reunion and housed our family members very comfortably. There was lots of room for quiet space and partying alike. The well equipped kitchen made for fun community cooking and dining. We would love to do it again.
Bruce M. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2009 Thanks for your follow-up. This was our third rental with you and the only difficulty is that we had to leave. The accommodations are outstanding. The cleaning and preparation were up their usual high standards.
Stacy C. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in November, 2008 I was very happy with the location and outfitting of the property--it has a wonderful view and everything that we needed. I was disappointed with the managment's response when we had a water leak, and even more disappointed in how they have handled it since (one of the couple that came ended up sleeping in their car when the leak took their bedroom out of commission.) I think that they should have given me a credit for the inconvience and disruption to my guests. I am disappointed with the management's follow through, but still love the house. You will have a great time there as long as nothing goes wrong.
Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals We apologize for the inconvenience and lack of proper response from management and we will personally call you to make this right.
