The contemporary interior is open, airy and colorful - all created with impeccable style and sensational substance.This unique 3,727 square foot home offers three stories of beautiful custom features rarely found in beach property. The upper level attic style bedroom even has a very cool and unique crows' nest that allows for many hours of ocean scope'n. There is also a state of the art sound system and TV/DVD/Cable through out. This home is located just one house from the beach, and offers spectacular ocean views with beach access just about at your door. There is also a deck with ocean view and hot tub! Stayed for 3 days in December, 2012 We had a fine time in this house, but were certainly bummed to realized upon our arrival that despite verbal assurances that the hot tub had, indeed, been fixed, it was broken and unrepairable for at least a week. Beside that exception, all in all, the house is what it's promised to be. We were puzzled that the downstairs fireplace was not allowed to be used. I would return, but I probably wouldn't pay the more expensive holiday rates again. |

Stayed for 2 days in December, 2012 Got our kids and grandkids together - it generally went pretty well though the access code for the lockbox didn't work and we had to wait 20 minutes or so for someone to show up and let us in. We were there to just spend a few uniterrupted days together in comfort and that went very well! Sauna was great, and conversation pit was our main hangout. Thanks for a great time. |

The house itself is a little dated and the dishwasher was broken, the toaster didn't work and it took an hour to figure out how to use the TV and music (even though we were all pretty technical). But- the amenities are terrific. I think it would be a good idea for the owners to stay there and look at it thru the eyes of a renter. For the off season price it could be in better shape. Lovely house and location, but in disrepair A guest from Portland, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2012 We booked this house for a women's retreat weekend. Incredible location and beautiful house, but many things in the house were broken. Foremost being the dishwasher and the hot tub, which if we had known about we would have picked a different house. Further, the toilet door wouldn't close in the master bath, the tub leaked from the faucet profusely, the VCR's were both general the house needs some maintenance. Also we ordered three bundles of wood from the property management company that were never delivered and we were never refunded for. Overall our vacation was still a success, but I will never rent this house again. Property Manager Response: Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals We aploogize about the maintenance issues. The hot tub and dishwasher have been repaired and we are working on the other maintenance issues. We are very sorry about the oversight regarding the firewood. It was refunded. No heat and no way out LaWanna J. from Honolulu, HI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2012 We flew in to Portland from Hawaii on Thursday so we could drive out Friday. We got to the house and could not get the heat to work, even with the fire going we could only get it to 58. They sent someone out and they couldn't get it to work. We went to hot tub and front door knob fell off. The heat was finally fixed mid morning on Saturday. We left a note and I e-mailed management company. We received no compensation or even explanation. The layout is perfect with the kitchen opening to the dining area and sunken couch/fireplace. There are plenty of bedrooms with lots of beds. The library is a great feature too! Some amenities didn't work (e.g. dishwasher, jets in bathroom tub, temperature of hot tub a little cool), but overall, it was a memorable house. This was my second stay here and I'll definitely be back! |

It was a lovely time together and the location and layout of the house allowed for both privacy and communal time.Be aware the "crows nest" room - as a bedroom was not a quiet room when others were in the living area. The crows nest room does not have a door and as the wood stove pipes run from the basement all the way up, sounds from both floors below would float up clearly. The master suite was lovely to have for the grandparents; while the grandchildren enjoyed the jacuzzi bathtub.The house does show its age in the aging appliances (fridge - the ice cream became unfrozen cream; dishwasher - a jet taking off; jacuzzi - jets didn't work). However, the layout and location far surpassed everyone's expectations. |

Stayed for 5 days in August, 2011 The house had tons of space, we had several couples with us and everyone had beds and their own room! The only issue that we experienced was that the refrigerator/freezer does not get very cold. We had to throw out several packages of meat after 2 days because the fridge did not keep them cold enough. Over all it was an amazing house and we will be going back! ......and yes the hot tub and grill work!!! |

The only problem we had was the heating/cooling system, we just couldn't get it to cool the residence on the hot days and the window in the kitchen was broken so air movement wasn't there to cool the house! Stayed for 5 days in July, 2011 We have rented from SSVR many times, so were surprised to rent a home this summer that had so many items in disrepair. The grill did not work, the refrigerator/freezer did not keep things cold enough (milk was warm and ice cream was melted/mushy), the hot tub was not very hot, the dryer did not dry in a reasonable time, and the outlet in the main floor bathroom did not work. Our calls to SSVR did not result in anything being fixed while we were at the Beach House. The location and layout of the home is spectacular, but at $500/night we expected amenities that actually worked. |

These highlights outweigh the downsides, including dated decor (the place looks like it was top of the line in 1982 but hasn't seen much attention since) and old appliances that need replacing (bad dishwasher, faulty impossible-to-read cook-top knobs, old grill, leaky tub faucet & non-functioning jacuzzi tub). Families with young children should be prepared for some childproofing for the dangerous drops down the central fireplace area. A great place for a reunion or big friend gathering. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2010 2 beds--sand on sheetsno air conditioningcalled property management company to check on air conditioning, was told that they answer calls everyday of week. No one returned by call.No dishwasher soapwhen we arrived there were two loads of wet towels to dry.We arrived at 4PM a person was there checking or cleaning with front door wide open so the house was extreemely hot and lots of bugs. I killed 30 bugs in one bedroom. |

Good location but only for the desparate A guest from Washington, DC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2010 The management is good, but it is clear the owner has NO interest in even the most basic maintence of this property. If you are looking for a broken down, ramshackle, trip back to 1981 this is the house for you. We didn't expect the Ritz by any means but for $4,000 for a week we did expect a cook top, dishwasher and refrigerator that worked properly. None of which was the case. The movie room contains a console projection TV that might have been cool in 1980 but has terrible picture quality. The lighting in the living and dining area is almost non-existant making it quite dark at night unless you turn on the flourescent lights over the fire place. You heard me right, flourescent lights over the fireplace. The bedroom with the bunk beds is in a walk-out basement that feels like a walkout basement. One of the other beds lacked a mattress cover/pad (again you would think $4000 would get you a mattress pad). The location is good. Just one house off the beach and a short walk to town. The view from the house is pretty good but became less so when the neighbor pulled up with their camper for the week. I think the key to kinding decent rentals in this market is you have book longer than 9 months in advance. We booked in December for an August rental and this was the best we could find. Had to add cold water afer getting out each time to fill back up. stove handles hard to read and one burner not working. Jacuzzi tub in master, jets do not work. one shower in double shower only pumps cold water. Found a very old piece of toast shoved in the books in the library. no mattress cover on bed in crows nest. always going to be some little things broke in a house, but the amount of things broke in the house that we used or tried to used made us feel the house fell short of minimum epectations in that area. fortunately location, staff, pool table and foosh ball table were a hit and we had a good time. |

Stayed for 3 days in January, 2010 The location and overall layout of the house were great, the views from the decks and kitchen are gorgeous! We also really enjoyed the fireplace, which was centrally located to be enjoyed from the kitchen or living room areas, but we had some problems getting the hot tub to heat, could not find instructions on how to use the telescope, and the stove is in need of repair or replacement. Other than that we had a great time and recommend Sunset rentals as we have been generally very pleased with our vacation rentals from them for the past several years. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2009 This house is amazing and the amenities are very appealing - though they are in disrepair and that detracted from our ability to enjoy them. The windows in the kitchen leak sand and water, the stovetop burners don't all work, the dishwasher was finicky, the hot water supply was less than needed to fill the indoor tub (we only got 6-8 inches of water and then it ran cold, even after someone came to turn up the water heater), the temperature of the outdoor hot tub was cool, even after someone came to fix it. And when we got there the house hadn't been totally cleaned - there was garbage in some of the trashcans inside. Also. there were no movies in the theater room, even though it said there were. I LOVE THIS HOUSE though and if those things were fixed, well, it would have been a perfect stay! Stayed for 2 days in October, 2009 there were 13 ladies that stayed at this house for the weekend. we were all comfortable. the view was great and so close to the beach... we would stay there again!the only thing we had a little trouble with was the kitchen sink backed up and was draining very slowly, and the dvd player kept making the movies stick and skip- we thought it was the dvd until the 2nd one did the same thing- neither of them had troubles at home. (we bought our own movies from home). |

Stayed for 7 days in September, 2009 There were 13 of us and we used the whole houseGreat location just 1 house off the beach - The kids loved the theater room - Kitchen is well stocked with a nice selection of pots & pans - We had a few bumps on arrival several light bulbs burnt out and some of the power was out but a quick call to the rental agency and within an hour the bulbs were changed and the GFI (which is in the basement bathroom) was reset. Overall we had a great time and glad we stayed here at least once. Even though we liked the place and location there were a lot of quirks that may not be an issue for most but frustrated me at times: Here are a few of them - Only 4 chairs at the dining table - 3 stools with more stools downstairs not even stacking chairs outside that could be used so if you want to play games around a table plan on sore backs for those who have to use stools - A tone of light switches and dimmer switches not all work and you have no idea what should turn what on (would be nice to label the main ones) - The dials on the stove are old and many of the numbers wore off so you have to play with it to figure out what the temp is when your using it - All eating areas are on the carpeted area - The carpet is very light almost white in color - we had smaller kids with us so we laid towels down under the chairs to make sure nothing was spilt on it - The couch is comfortable and useable but the arm is broken as stated in previous reviews so if someone leans against it it will come undone - hot tub is nice but the cover is very heavy and worn will take at least 2 people to remove - If these things don?t bother you it is a nice place... - There is a store on the main strip that has almost anything you may have forgot and very helpful too... - Even if you don?t choose to stay here the rental agency is top notch and I?d work with them again in a heart beat. Crazy 70's throwback with lots of room! A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in June, 2009 I would recommend this property - but with some reservations. It was an amazing floorplan, complete with a "conversation pit" and a crow's nest with a view to die for. We loved the vintage 70's-80's style. Felt like a movie set from the era.That said, the home was in moderate disrepair:*An 8-track and cassette player, XM radio, but no CD player or Ipod dock? We rent houses often and these items are standards. If I'd only brought my Helen Reddy 8-track collection...* The gas grill was rusted through and through, including the grates, with no handle on the lid (dangerous). It was unusable. The charcoal grill was newer and fine; just had to change plans.* The side of the couch in the living room was literally lying on the floor. Pretty obvious and a must-fix.We were very pleased with the flexibility of the management company (last-minute, one night rental, willing to negotiate). The house was spotlessly clean.Enjoy the Beach House, just don't plan on a gas grill or music! Great views! Great stay! Denise M. from Camas, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2009 The only thing we were dissatified with was that the stove did not work properly and the front door latch did not work properly. We contacted the manager and maintenance was promptly sent out. However, maintenance was unable to fix the problems during our stay. We loved out time there! The mgmt. co was very helpful and accomodating. We will call again for our group stay next year...but probably a different home.
