Stayed for 3 days in June, 2014 We enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect for our needs. Our kids were able to play in the sand while we enjoyed watching them from the house. There are not a lot of restaurants in Waldport so we went to Ray's grocery store and cooked at the house. We loved Grand Central Pizza and ordered it one night for take out. If you are looking for a house with exceptional ocean views and minimal people on the beach this is the place for you! We will be back and definitely loved this house.
Sand dune getaway Wendy E. from Bend, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in June, 2014 They weren't kidding when they mentioned a lot of SAND at this property. Thank you for providing shovels, as we had to shovel the driveway in order to pull into it upon arriving. (Also used the shovels to attempt to dig out from the ditch when a member of our party got stuck! Thank goodness for roadside assistance). The house was furnished beautifully, and we loved the layout. We did find some random things under one of the beds (a kids' shoe and a bread bag with one piece remaining) so might want to make sure to clean there in the future. A wonderful time was had by all!! Thank you for sharing your place~
Gorgeous, secluded beach getaway perfect for family! A guest from Sandy, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in May, 2014 It was a little sketch driving there was more and more sand was "drifted" across the narrow road the closer we got to the house. The steep driveway and walkway (as well as entire front yard) were covered in sand, as well. This did not create problems except there was nowhere to park on the street so you must park on the steep driveway (room for one car in garage, but it's narrow.)But the VIEWS!! Amazing!! This is the perfect "getaway"! Sand dunes all along the beach that we essentially had to ourselves. The kids had fun "boogie boarding" down the dunes, seeing the seals daily at low tide, playing games, playing in the sand and ocean. It was clean and big enough with a nice floorplan for the 8 of us, and just 10 minutes to groceries and pizza.Only minor gripes: the rental company didn't provide us with pool access info so I called and they emailed it. Charge was $5 per person per day. Fine. We drove up the street to the pool to discover it was not yet open for the season, (not until AFTER Memorial Day). Bummer. We had enough to do without it, but might have planned a trip to the Aquarium if we'd known "no pool" earlier in the day.Yep, there's TONS of sand. But that was one of our favorite features and we will likely return. Remember to bring your frisbee, kites, sand toys, and sunscreen!
Stormy weather makes for homey vacation Karyn K. from Eugene, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in April, 2014 As this is the third time staying at this house,we loved it. Thank you so much. There were a bunch of things that needed attention: we broke a wine glass and a drinking glass (that were cracked to begin with), the cuisinart blender is cracked and the actual machine doesn't work, there aren't enough bowls or cooking pots, the drawer in the fridge was broken, the window is stuck in the back bedroom by the sand dune and besides that it was heaven! We left a note, just wanted to make sure you got it. Ocean Odyssey has been great to work with, I will keep coming back and by the way Wendy is awesome! Thanks!
Property Manager Response: Response from Ocean Odyssey Vacation Rentals Thank you for letting us know of the above mentioned items. We will address them right away.
Great House! dan r. from Roseville, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in April, 2014 Traveled to the Oregon Coast for a "working vacation." House fairly modest-looking from the outside but very nice interior. Beautiful family room with panoramic view of ocean and beach. Tons of movies, games, etc. House was well-stocked with blankets, lawn chairs, etc. Nice kitchen and comfortable beds. The rental price was a bargain for the size and views. Be aware that there is quite a bit of sand build-up in this area between houses on the roads and on drive-ways. A lot of sand on the outside patio which will naturally find itself inside the house. Light sweeping seems to keep that under control. We had a 4-wheel drive so no problems getting to the house, but I would check in advance to see if there are any access issues. We look forward to coming back again soon. There is nothing like an oceanfront home at the Oregon Coast-
Beautiful View! A guest from Washougal, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in April, 2014 Truly enjoyed our stay. The master bedroom, living room, kitchen and dining room has a wonderful view of the ocean. We had a large group and there was plenty of room for all of us. Very happy with the kid friendly home. The kids loved playing on the sand dunes and when the tide was out, there were lots of tide pools to play in. The home offers lots of movies and games to play, which was wonderful when it was stormy outside. Grocery store was minutes away.. we had everything we needed for a very relaxing weekend! Thank you!!!

Stayed for 3 days in March, 2014 I wish we would have know about how much sand there could be when really windy. Out sons have trucks that have substantial sand damage.
Property Manager Response: Response from Ocean Odyssey Vacation Rentals We try and let everyone know of the sand in this area as well as state it on our website. This area can get very sandy during winds.
Nice Getaway Kathryn W. from Corvallis, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in March, 2014 Our stay on the beach with close friends was wonderful. It is a nice house with breath taking views. The house is fully stocked with entertainment for all ages. The only thing guests should be aware of is that the house sits on a dune and consequently there is lots of sand.
Great place in the dunes! A guest from Bend, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in January, 2014 We had a great time at the Sand and Surf house. The views of the mouth of the Alsea and the ocean were wonderful and the house is definitely right on the beach. The house was well supplied and clean, until we arrived, there is no stopping the sand coming in! The house could really use some reading lamps and end tables in the living area but that is my only suggestion for improvement.
November at Sand and Surf with Friends A guest from Tacoma, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in November, 2013 Really enjoyed our stay at this property. Lucky to have good weather and good walks on beach. Moon out at night. House very comfortable and easy to get around and loved the winter special rates. Thank you. Will be back to this property sometime soon.
Perfect location at the tip of the ocean and the bay A guest from Redmond, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in October, 2013 We greatly enjoyed our stay. The living area was wonderful with fabulous views. We loved that we could actually see the ocean from our windows (instead of just sand). The kitchen was awesome for a group and the master very comfortable. The other 2 rooms are smallish-but comfy too. When they say they don't provide paper products-that means TP too. So bring your own.And the Wood stove was fabulous too!!!Get ready to be sandy as it's impossible to keep it out of the house-but hey, it's the beach-Relax and enjoy!!!
Sand n Surf Oct 2013 Nan K. from Spokane, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in October, 2013 House and location were both wonderful. Kitchen could you more mixing bowls and sharp knives for cutting and chopping. No coffee filters which was a disappointment since everyone wanted a cup after our long trip.
Too Much Sand A guest from Yakima, WA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 7 days in September, 2013 Although the house met our expectations and needs we now know that we need green space for our dogs. Because of the location (on a sand dune) everything was rather sandy and hard to keep clean. feel sorry for the housekeepers.
Relaxing Time A guest from Olympia, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in August, 2013 What a very calming vacation. Renting the home was seem less and the only thing we can think of is we wanted to spend more time here.
BEAUTIFUL VIEW AND VERY COMFORTABLE Krystee G. from Yakima, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 8 days in August, 2013 One hint... there were no extra sheets to change a bed, if needed, or to put on the twin fold up beds. The cupboards were very dirty and shelves broken. I wiped out cupboards, and fixed the shelves. There was no vacuum bag in the vacuum so we couldn't vaccuum. Other than that - it was AWESOME! Hope to rent it again next year! Those were just minor items. :-)
Great beach vacation! Rick B. from Boise, ID recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 The view was fantastic! The house was very nice, although they could use some new fry pans. We had a very enjoyable time. The only issue was the excessive amount of sand that covered the road and the entrance to the driveway. After shoveling the driveway it was fine. All in all it was a fantastic experience. We would definitely visit again.
Nice home Shanna S. from Lewiston, ID does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 Overall it is a very nice home will great views and easy beach access. Be warned access to the home can be difficult due to sand blowing across road leading to the home as well as the driveway. The city will not maintain the road nor will the property managers. We called to inform the managers that the BBQ was broken, the blender didn't work and about a foot of sand had blown over the driveway. We were provided a BBQ within a few hours but never saw the blender or a plow after we were told they would take care of it. We ended up having to dig out the driveway by hand to get in or out.
