The Big Sea is a roomy and comfortable home in the most westerly property on Yachats' premier ocean front street... it juts toward the ocean like the bow of a ship! This home has unobstructed 180-degree views of the majestic pacific ocean, crashing rocky coast waves, and spectacular Cape Perpetua. Both bedrooms have excellent ocean views... the waves' gentle roar will lull you to sleep at night and greet you each morning. You can watch a parade of sea lions, otters, pelicans and whales while you bask in the glow of the large brick fireplace in the beamed-ceiling living room or while enjoying the fresh ocean air on the large west or south-facing deck. This fantastic beach get-away is in a great area to look for agates, jade and shells. There is an easy access to the rocky beach and tidepools, and it is a short walk to Yachats State Park, many art galleries, restaurants and shopping. The adjacent historic 804 Trail provides miles of walking or jogging through sandy beaches, rocky coast and lush plant life.
You will feel relaxed and revitalized by your visit with the ever-changing pacific ocean, stars, and sky! And your dog will love the roomy fenced/gated backyard lawn that faces the Big Sea.

alicia m. from bend, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2014 We loved this place! The yards are perfectly fenced in for our pooch. The house is a perfect walking distance to town. And the view of the ocean from the windows is breathtaking. The home is comfortable and clean and really delightful. I hate to give a good review because I don't want so many people staying here and taking my reservation time! LOVED this place. I will stay here many times in the future.
Laura A. from Eugene, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2014 I felt the rental was comfortable and nice enough. the added charges were pretty excessive for the condition of the property. some dishes were dirty and the auto dishwasher was pretty low grade. The VCRs did not work on DVDs. The view was great and we had a great weekend.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2014 While the house is a bit shabby and needs some repairs, it seems basically sound and is a good value for the money. The oceanfront location, with its proximity to the 804 Trail and downtown Yachats, is absolutely superb.
A guest from Troy, Idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2014 We spend a lot of time in Walport and Newport so it was a bit of a drive but great views in the morning and at night. Love the hike at Perpetua. Wish the Amanda trail was marked better. We really wanted to take that hike as well but couldn't find the lower trailhead from the Beachside route. House was well kept just a little dusty. Good rate for a great place. Thank you!
A guest from Ashland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2013 We always enjoy our stay and look forward to the next time. Great location within walking distance to town and the beach.
Norman F. from Baltimore, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in November, 2013 Not for publishing- I did not appreciate the auto emails saying I continued to owe money after making the payments. Otherwise, great rental. NF
A guest from Ashland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2013 We visit Big Sea two or three times a year, and we always enjoy it. Ocean Odyssey Vacation Rentals is very accommodating and makes the rental process very easy.
A guest from Junction City, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in September, 2013 I have stayed here many times - and as always it was fantastic - The closeness of the ocean and the view made for exciting storm watching, clear skys brought out whales and sea birds- I love the sound of the rain on the roof (can't hear that in most other homes). Also the location made it easy to get into town for groceries or dinner out.- being disabled,I found the staff, both Ocean Odyssey & house maintenance crews were most accomindating -
A guest from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in September, 2013 Every year we look forward to our stay at the Big Sea House. We especially love the big windows that offer an amazing view of the ocean. The folks at Ocean Odyssey feel like family. They always go out of their way to accommodate any extra needs we may have. We can't imagine a more perfect place to spend a few days on the coast!
James N. from Klamath Falls, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2013 We are from Maryland and this was a great spot for our first visit to the Oregon Coast. Great viewing of gray whales outside and through the many windows. Our experience could not have been better.
A guest from Chevy Chase, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2013 INCREDIBLE location! The house itself is a little shabby, and didn't seem entirely clean -- nothing egregious, just not bright and shining clean. But, a great location!
A guest from Bend, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2013 Beautiful views but not the best stretch of beach for general walking. Very rocky tide pool area so as far as tide pooling it's great but for miles of relaxing beach walks or jogs this isn't the best stretch of beach for those activities.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2013 House could have been cleaner--kitchen countertops not clean, dead flies on various windowsills, stove oven door smeared, garage not swept out. House location was perfect. Toilet mechanism in bath/shower room needs work--after flushing, would run for hours unless manually readjusted to allow tank to fill. Would recommend a TV channel list showing available channels
A guest from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2013 The location of this home is fantastic - you sit on the couch and gaze out over the ocean through 3 huge panes of glass. From that perspective, it is magical. It's easily within walking distance of the grocery store and restaurants. I also really appreciated having a garage for the car. The house itself is rather "tired", tho. The exterior needs to be painted, the chairs on the deck are all cracked, and the interior furniture is mismatched and may very well have come from a 2nd hand store. So if you are looking for a warm, inviting home, this probably isn't it. But if you are looking for a functional place to stay with an exquisite view and room for 4 -6 people, this is the perfect spot for you.
Karen E. from Keizer, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2013 House has a fabulous location, great amenities. Would stay again if they added room darkening curtains to the master bedroom and bed wasnt very comfortable. It was so light in the room we didnt sleep much. Fabulous view of ocean from living room! Very clean, great fireplace, :)
A guest from Tacoma, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in February, 2009 This was our third stay at the house. We love the house's location. The homeowners need to spend some money doing some minor fixes to the house. We will be back.
Scott K. from Monmouth, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2009 We really enjoyed our stay. Cannot say enough about the location of the house and the overall experience. Wendy was very helpful with making the reservation and providing the necessary information. We enjoyed being able to go straight to the property (directions were spot on) and as soon as we entered the home, we knew it was going to be a great trip. Just a few pointers ~ a couple of dish towels would be helpful (not everyone likes to use sponges), batteries were not working in the flash lights. But other than that ~ everything was great and more than we expected. Don't know why we ever stayed in a hotel in Yachats :) We are definitely looking forward to our next trip there!
