A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2014 We had a great stay at Tillicum in Waldport. The house is great, you can't get much closer to the beach. The "river" next to the house is a great place for the kids to safely play in the water. My only complaints are 1) the house is a little hard to find because it isn't marked on the street with the correct address2) the kitchen is small, not enough cabinet or counter space to store groceries 3) the house could use a more "beachie" feel. It's a great place to stay, and there was plenty of room for all 6 of us, I would definitely recommend it!
A guest from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2014 The folks at Ocean Odyssey were very accommodating. We had an issue with our hot tub in that it was not heating. The service call was promptly replied to and the issue fixed. However, it took pretty much all of Saturday and Sat evening to heat so we never used the hot tub. Also, the address sign on Hwy 101 was in the ditch, so we had a hard time finding the place in the dark.
Rene R. from Clarkston, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2013 We vacationed at this home during off-season. The house was very convenient for multiple reasons. The car had under-cover parking, it was nice to stay somewhere for a few days without having to pack up every morning to stay in a different hotel every night. The house has a great view of the ocean and of course the sunsets. The kitchen and laundry were adequately equiped and we did not need anything in addition to what the house provided. This is a nice quiet getaway if that is what you're looking for. The only down sides were the beds were not that great and the speed limit on the road is 55 mph which makes it hard to turn off the highway. The house was hard to find in the dark, especially with traffic behind you. I can't say anything about the tv's, never turned them on. One last thing, the wifi was GREAT. We did not have any problem connnecting and it was just like at home.
A guest from Revelstoke, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2013 We enjoyed our stay here very much, but the listing says there are two single beds in the second room, and there was only one double. Disappointing with two teenagers. The dishwasher leaked so the last day we did dishes by hand, and the house could have been much cleaner. The pullout couch (which we used since we were one bed short of the listing) was full of crackers, crumbs and grape vines, and the master bathroom was slightly grungy. The bedroom carpets were both badly stained with throw rugs overtop. Beyond the cleaning issues (beds were clean and comfy) the location was excellent, fires on the beach were amazing, and the hot tub was lovely. Beware of thorns in the lawn, do not head out barefoot until you are safely on the beach :)
Jim L. from Pohoa, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2013 Finger prints on sliders and mirror in living room, dirty toilet, grease on cabinet adjacent to range, sand in door tracks and mold in door frames. YUCK!
Rick C. from Vancouver, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in August, 2013 The beach house at Tillicum was a great vacation spot for our family. The layout was great for our 11 month old. She could crawl freely between all the rooms. The location is ideal, situated in the middle of the the most beautiful stretch of the coast. I would love to grab some hedge trimmers and go to work so that you can see the ocean when sitting in the hot tub and on the couch.
Priscilla E. from Custer, SD recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2013 We come to the coast once a year for a week to relax. We leave our town in the Black Hills of SD during the annual motorcycle rally because it is so Craaazy:)We love to hike, beachcomb, bike, drink good coffee and eat seafood and we find all that on the Oregon coast:DWe would love to stay at Beach House at Tillicum again:)Thanks for a wonderful and memorable time!
A guest from Milwaukie, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2013 We stayed 5 days, 4 nights with our 5 and 3 year year old boys and we had a wonderful time. The house is right next to the freeway, so there is some freeway noise, but it is also right next to Big Creek - which makes it an excellent location for kids. Our boys dug in the sand and played in Big Creek, which is the perfect size and depth for them. We also played in the ocean and there is a natural sand bar with water trapped on one side - which makes a perfect 'pool' for swimming (and was quite warm!). The house has a wrap-around deck with a door leading into the bathroom right next to the shower. We could undress the boys on the deck and they could step right into the shower - perfect!I felt the kitchen wasn't very well appointed and was lacking some basics, but we'd definitely rent this house again - and just know to bring along some of the tools we need. Would have loved a working stereo/CD player, but that's about all that was missing. One note - don't walk barefoot in the grass! Our 5 year old walked up from the beach barefoot and stepped into the yard and into some horrible prickle bush that covered the bottom of his feet with stickers. Lesson learned!Another note - the spa at the Overleaf Lodge in Yachats is a great place for a massage.
Janis F. from Stevensville, MT recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2013 The house was great. Based on the pictures on the website I was not expecting a house this nice. It was furnished nicely and was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that we could not see the ocean from either the house or the hot tub simply because of the over grown bushes. It was a shame because 20 minutes with clippers would have made this a perfect house.
Property Manager Response: Response from Ocean Odyssey Vacation Rentals Thank you for the review. The gentleman that normally takes care of the bushes has been ill and now have a new guy taking care of it and has trimmed them all back to open the view up again.
Barbara J. from Springfield, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2013 We had a wonderful time at this beach house. It had a perfect location--just a short path to the wide expanse of beach! The views were incredible! The only fairly negative comment I have is that the mattress on the fold out couch was bad. Would probably have been okay for kids but not adults. The other beds were fine. Overall it was a great place to stay!
A guest from Huson, MT does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2013 This home is wonderfully located just steps from the beach. Unfortunately, there were some problems. The home is a bit run down, though it was clean. We didn't mind the lack of luxury as we were a family group with children. However, the BBQ was rusted out and unuseable and the kitchen was poorly equipped. There is an uneven step at the top of the stairs on the deck that almost caused a serious injury. (A strip of yellow paint would be helpful here!)When renting this property you should be aware that there is a very large multi-family rental next door (a few feet from the windows of the master bedroom) that can be very noisy. All in all, with cleaning fee, hot tub fee, and taxes thrown in, the price was pretty steep for the size and condition of the home--around $233/night even with one night at "off season" rates. I have rented several homes in the area over the past few years and believe there are better values out there--keep looking.
Outdated, dusty, bathroom has mold, pots and pans were falling apart. The only thing good about this place was the location and
Maureen B. from Corvallis, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2009 It took us over a week to get in touch with any management from your company. (both by phone and email) We were finally able to make contact, and asked to have our "damage waiver" fee removed. We were promised it would be re-credited. It never was. We have stayed in lots of vacation properties, and have never had such poor service. We will not rent from you in the future. In addition to your poor customer service, the house was in less than "fair" condition. The shower curtains had mold on the back of them, the furniture was covered in dust, and my daughter bruised her bottm by simply plopping herself on the couch...which was hard as a rock. The pots and pans were falling apart and had someone else's cooking job caked on them. We didn't even want to use them to cook our food! The fridge and freezer were also covered in dust (inside) and we had to wipe it out before we put our food away. With the exception of the location (beautiful view) and the hot tub, we were dissapointed with this house, and again, will not be renting from you in the future. It certainly was NOT worth the $550 we paid.
A guest from Pleasant Hill, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2009 The house was cute & a nice location - but it could use more upkeep: The master bedroom toilet seat is OLD & gross, the BBQ is very rusty (we chose to go out to diner instead), and some of the dishes were worn (esp the pots & pans) and not very clean. With a little upkeep, this could be a much better house!
