A guest from Boise, Idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2015 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ponderosa Cottage during the 4th of July weekend. Excellent location for bike riding to town & thru Ponderosa Park as well as access to the lake at Davis Beach. It is right on the road into the park so some traffic/noise over this busy weekend, but bedrooms are in the back so it didn't bother us. Nice fenced yard for our dog and double garage where we stored our bikes & car. Had a well stocked kitchen - only issue was no ice maker or ice cube trays in the freezer, so we went to the Aspen market just a few blocks away, grabbed a couple bags of ice and that worked for us. Looking forward to staying there again!
JAyson H. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2014 We really enjoyed McCall and the lakeside rental. It had a large parking area that was perfect for our 4 place trailer. It was conveniently located across the street from Ponderosa par, and the McCall golf course. the house was clean, and had two sources of heat via the pellet stove and the central unit. Great family getaway.
Liz H. from Meridian, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2013 MY husband and I rented this cabin mainly for the dock slip that came with the cabin. We had some friends join us. One group with a motor home and one from Chicago. So the long driveway was a big plus. When we first arrived I was shocked to see the house was situated right on the corner of the street intersection. However even though there was a lot of traffic it was slow going and fairly quite, and having the bedrooms in the back of the house kept if very quite for sleeping. The dock was a close walk down a dead end road and very convenient however the dock was open to the pubic. We were not expecting to share the dock with the public and it was full all the time. Luckily we could just hop in the boat and do some sunbathing out in the water. The beach was owned by the city of McCall which doesn't allow dogs so that was a bummer. We brought our golden retriever and just leashed her as we walked across the beach to the docks. On a good note the state park beach which is where we spent a lot of our time does allow dogs and has a wonderful sandy beach. The kitchen had everything you would need except a blender. No frozen margaritas this trip. Over all the place was a good stay for the price you pay. Since dock access for boats are hard to find we most likely would stay here again. Next time we'll bring the blender:)
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2013 This house is in the perfect location for experiencing all that McCall has to offer in the summer. It's right by Davis Beach and the entrance to Ponderosa State Park and it's a short walk to downtown. We swam, kayaked, sailed, paddle boarded, hiked, went to a concert and ate a couple of meals out. The house is comfortable and everyone had enough space and privacy. The back yard had a nice patio, table and BBQ, but the grassy area could be improved. I would recommend this rental and I hope to return to it next summer.
Rebecca C. from Sandy, UT recommends this property. Stayed for 13 days in July, 2013 We had such a great stay at this cottage. It is so close to the water and dock . We spent hours jumping off the dock and hanging out at the beach all of which is a two minute walk. The house was very clean a side from the carpet , but being able to bring our four legged family members was sooo worth it !! Just bring socks or slippers :) We would love to stay here again !! Thanks !
Keena C. from Meridian, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2013 This was our second stay at the house. We knew exactly what to expect and loved it again!!! The only thing that would make this rental better is if they upgraded the second bedroom's bed to a Queen instead of a full size. That is just a personal preference and you know renting the house that it is a full :) Aside from a house on the lake you couldn't find a better rental!
Pam H. from Fruitland, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2012 Could not have had a more relaxing weekend. Close to lake kids could walk right to it on dead end road not having to worry about traffic. Everything you needed in all rooms. Don't have dish at home so took a while to learn the TV.
A guest from Eagle, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2012 PROS: Close to Ponderosa Park, the beach, and the city, easy walk to each. Fenced yard. Clean kitchen and bathrooms. Comfortable seating in living room CONS: Carpet in living room quite dirty with large stains, bedroom some staining; When we arrived, a part of the fence that was a very large gate was halfway off broken hinges and left large gaps where dogs could get out. Lifting it up straight and tying it with rope fixed the problem. As others have mentioned, lots of traffic and noise since it is very close to road at a busy intersection. Muddy area just as you walk onto backyard is a problem when trying to keep flooring clean.
Donna T. from missoula, MT recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2012 The cottage was equipped with everything one would need to cook a gourmet dinner and serve it as you would in one's own kitchen. The bathrooms and laundry room also didn't lack for anything. The whole cottage was clean and cheerful. The negatives were minor: Since the weather was very warm, the house did get stuffy. We did open all the doors and windows all night which helped. However, the Aspen condos do not have air conditioning either, so maybe it isn't so important in McCall. The lawn sprinklers did operate every morning for a very long period of time, which also was a minor inconvenience. But overall, the whole experience was very good. We were positively impressed. It was very comfortable and a great home away from home. I would definitely recommend it to everyone. We had originally planned to stay at the Aspens as that was where our family reunion was, but they do not allow pets, so we searched around for a pet-friendly condo and found Ponderosa Cottage. It was a matter of either take the pet, or stay home. Leaving the pet was not an option. Thanks so much!
Jamie V. from Roseville, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 Owner was very nice, accommodating, and responsive. Property was disappointing due to 1) location (very busy intersection thus, lots of car, truck, motorcycle, and pedestrian noise). (2) Linens, dishes, bathrooms were clean. However, carpets and laminate floors were very dirty. Within 5 minutes of arrival, our crawling 10 month old and 3 year old were black from dirt.
Wonderful House, Great Location for Summer activites!!! Great Cus
Keena C. from Meridian, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in July, 2012 This cabin is FANTASTIC! It has everything you need right down to the spices in the kitchen! We had a wonderful time relaxing at this home. It is a prefect location for your summer vacations with the beach and a dock slip just a block down from the house, it made for a much more relaxing vacation (and we are considering using it for winter vacation too). It was me, my hubby and 2 children, we had several different sets of friends come visit for the day and they were very impressed with the location and rate and are considering themselves renting the house. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back for more, if there were any open dates on the calendar this summer we would be trying to squeeze in another trip. Also, customer service was GREAT!! The TV on the 6th night stopped working, but the owner has a local manager that had a person there replacing the TV same day which I was SUPER impressed by. And on that note I was very impressed to find that there was DirectTV with a DVR... VERY NICE! Thanks so much! We will be back for many more vacations!
Jim H. from Durango, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 The unit was a great location for our stay. However, it was not ready at 3:00 PM, but 20 minutes late. Trash container was full, and pick-up not until 3 days later. Back door need new lock or repair.Reservation agent neglected one of our requests. General experience was positive.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 The location of this property is its finest quality. Only a block from the entrance to Ponderosa State Park, it is ideally located for water access to the lake and hiking trails. We took our dog and had a great time. The house was clean -- a little worn down, but certainly a place we felt comfortable.
John H. from San Marino, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2011 I stayed here with my girlfriend for a few days, and it was a very nice little cabin. We had access to the boat dock which was convenient for drop off and pick up of others. The house was in fine shape and had all the necessary supplies for general cooking. There is a garage where you can either park your car or park bicycles. It's a relaxing location, and although right on the main road to the Ponderosa campground, we never noticed any perceptible road noise. Quite quiet and peaceful. We also liked the very short walk to town, or the convenience store a few hundred meters away. The cabin also had a laundry facility by the kitchen in case you need to wash a few clothes or towels. Overall thumbs up.
Elizabeth B. from stamford, CT recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2011 Our whole family loved this beautiful "cabin" its location was greatAnd so beautifully decorated and yet comfortable.
A guest from Boise, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2011 I think people should know how close it is to the road - the long drive implies that the cottage is a good distance from the street but the traffic noise was huge! Other than that it was all good.
A guest from Boise, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in January, 2011 The cottage was adorable and immaculate!! We had an awesome weekend and would definitely return. We recommend this house to anyone who visits McCall!
A nice location, but you can't see the lake from the house. Everything worked just fine and the house was nice.
Jason M. from Meridian, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2010 The description says two car garage. However, there was a Ford Explorer in the garage taking up a space. We came in two cars. The weather was below zero at night and we had to start our car before bed and first thing in the morning to avoid freeze ups.
A guest from Twin Falls, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2010 The house is a very short walk to the lake and a very short walk to Ponderosa State Park, which unfortunately puts it on a busy street corner. The outside of the house could use a good de-spidering and the sprinklers ran so long the back yard was a swamp, but the inside of the house was in good condition and we had a very comfortable stay.
We love the Little yellow House it was perfect for our little family. With the beach and the State park a block away we couldn't
Jarah C. from Orem, UT recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2010 Loved the Garage. Loved how the Kitchen was stocked with everything we would need to cook so we had the option to eat in or out. The BBQ in the backyard was fun too.
A guest from Kuna, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2010 Cons: Right on the corner of a busy intersection. 50ft driveway would be challenging to park an RV in. House was older than expected (but well kept)Pros: VERY close to Ponderosa state park (walking distance to some campsites). Plenty of dishes/pots/pans. Excellent hot water supply. Nice little enclosed back yard for kids to play in.Summary - definitely would consider staying there again.
Gorden G. from Boise, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2010 Had a great time staying at this house. Comfortable beds...nicely appointed. 50 yards to beach and dock slip for boat. Good location...close to town and Ponderosa park. Davis Street is busy on big weekends (July 4th)
LINDSEY M. from meridian, idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2009 The house itself was very clean and cute, everything was brand new. However their were a few things that we did not like, such as the location, the house sits at an intersection that was very busy, theirfore very noisy pretty much all day, how we read the description of the location of the property was that it was right on the water, which, we discovered was much further away, within walking distance but not at all close. Also, to our surprise, Friday morning, a worker showed up to work on pipes under the house, we had no idea of this until he knocked on the door to let us know he would be shutting off the water for a while, although we did not mind this, a heads up would have been much appreciated, other then that it was a pleasant experience.
