Le Claouset is a traditional fortified or bastide famhouse which has been fully renovated to ensure that you can combine the comforts of modern living with the beautiful character of wooden beams, exposed stonework and polished wooden floors. Buit around a central courtyard which is now a lovely tranquil garden it is a quiet and relaxing place in which to spend a holiday.
There is an extremely large, well equipped kitchen with dining area on the ground floor. On the first floor is a beautiful airy living room with two windows looking down the Cerou Valley and two overlooking the courtyard garden. There is a selection of books, DVDs and videos as well as aselection of toys and board games for kids big and small! Also on this floor are two twin bedrooms both of which are en suite. On the top floor there are two further double rooms one of which has a king size bed, these again have ensuite bathrooms and are large enough to add extra beds or cots as required.
Outside there is a beautiful covered dining area perfect for a lazy summer lunch, there is a sunny terrace with barbecue and dining table and chairs. The courtyard offers many quiet corners in which to read or sleep off the lazy lunch. Outside of the courtyard are further gardens one of which houses the private pool with sun loungers and a variety of water toys. Further gardens house the orchard, walled vegetable garden, chicken house (no cockerels to disturb you in the mornings!) and a beautiful old Pigeonnier which is now stable to our lawn mowing sheep!
Beyond our little hamlet we are moments away from the medieval village of Monesties and are just a short drive along the Cerou valley to the stunning hilltop town of Cordes sur Ciel, Cordes is just one of a series of fortified towns all of which are within easy reach of the farm. The city of Albi with its stunning brick built catherdral and Toulouse Lautrec museum is a memorable day out. For the active there is canoeing, horse riding, golf, cycling, sailing and walking. The activity centre at Cap decouverte has water skiing,dry slope skiing, go karting and a lovely beach for swimming. To get the real flavour of France there are the vineyards of the Gaillac plateau and numerous markets to buy local produce.
