UNIT 604 IS A 1-BEDROOM, 1.5-BATH CONDOMINIUM on the top floor of the very popular oceanfront complex, Kihei Surfside. You will wake to panoramic ocean views looking across to West Maui and enjoy the evening breezes from your lanai (balcony). This unit is light and bright with tile floors and walled mirrors to double your view. There is a queen bed in the bedroom (and a TV in the bedroom!) and a queen sofabed in the living room. The unit has _free_ high-speed Internet, both Ethernet and wireless, and _free_ long-distance calling to the U.S. and Canada.
THIS WONDERFUL UNIT AND COMPLEX is in a great area, close to both the shops, restaurants and conveniences of South Kihei and the upscale shopping, restaurants and fancy resorts in Wailea. Kihei Surfside is a very special place -- we have seen every condominium complex on Maui and none other has the large expanse of manicured lawn in front looking out at such a tranquil view.

Stayed for 8 days in January, 2013 Kihei Surf side is a great location with very nice facilities and helpful office, BUT unit 604 really needs a full makeover and screen repair. The big window had no screen at all. It was torn out. Kitchen has working but poor appliances, baths are outdated, master shower sprayed in all directions. The TV was old and hard to hear. Upholstery was faded. But because of the view and beaches we still had a good time. Too expensive for a non-luxury experience. |

The condo 604 has a few quirks:* the shower nozzle didn't take the shampoo out of my hair; I was forced to wash my hair in the sink, hoping the garbage disposal would not get my hair;* the table on the lanai had one leg shorter than the other three so rocked back and forth,and the paint was peeling;* the couch was too low and too soft, I wound up with a backache; *the screens really rattled in the afternoon trade winds as they were loose:* there was no cutting board to chop salad fixings. The location was just perfect - close to Kihei but away from the main hustle and bustle. Very quiet. The view was awesome and we saw whales from our balcony right after arriving! Later on, we saw more whales (including a baby!), dolphins, a rare monk seal, and a turtle from the beach just by the condo! The beach is just around the corner and is fantastic. Great for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing. The unit was clean and very well stocked with towels, cooking supplies, and dishes. We would most definitely stay here again! |

We watched every sunset and had a great view of the migrating whales from the lanai. The beach nearby was decent for snorkeling and boogie boarding. The unit was clean and well-decorated, with a nicely stocked kitchen- we didn't feel like the owner was dumping leftover furnishings and equipment on us. The Surfside isn't as glitzy as some Maui resorts, but in our eyes that was a bonus (we prefer the less polished charms of Kihei to overgroomed, overplanned Wailea. If your idea of a Maui vacation is shopping at Tiffany's, you will likely find this too down market for your tastes- go to the Four Seasons, instead.) Also, it seemed like it might be a bit crowded for 4 people. In particular, the lanai is awesome (we ate nearly every meal on it), but it would be awkward for more than 2 people. |

We owned a condo in Kihei for 30 years and sold it 3 years ago and this was our first trip back. We would definitely come back to Surfside. Couple of items: We couldn't find sheets for the foldout bed. Think 604 would be tight for 4 people (maybe you don't rent to 4) because of the owner's closet. Think some type of sun shades on the windows would be good. Again, none of these things detracted from our stay and we would return and recommend this complex and this unit. It was great dealing with everyone. |

Stayed for 7 days in April, 2011 We have stayed at the Surfside before, and love the building, the location, the views, the lawn, and the community feel of the place. Unfortunately, this unit did not meet our expectations based on the one we stayed in in the past. The view was wonderful, and the unit itself was fine, with great potential, but we had several issues. The fan in the living room was not functioning well and "high" was more like "very low", so the afternoon sun made the room pretty uncomfortable. There were also bugs everywhere. And they were dying...which made us nervous, particularly with our toddler in tow. We were in constant worry about anything that touched the floor or any surface that may have been sprayed. (Also, as a side note if you're staying here with children, there is no tub in the bathroom, just a shower. We didn't think to ask, but ended up at the store buying a big plastic bin to use as a makeshift tub. We left it there, so hopefully someone else can do the same if needed!) We also arrived to find some of the towels dirty, which the management came and replaced quickly. They were quite responsive, and nice, but not much help on the fan issue. There is now a bi-fold closet type door at the bedroom entry, which was a great addition to provide a little privacy! Overall, we had a great stay, but just wanted to point out some things that could have made it better! |

Fabulous view from lanai, excellent location for everything you want to do on the island! A guest from Spring, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2011 Booking a stay and making arrangements for Kehei Surfside #604 was a snap. The booking agency communicated quickly as needed, even during the tsunami. Only recommendations would be sharpening the kitchen knives and repair a small hole in the lanai screen. If you are sensitive sleeper, take ear plugs so you won't hear the noise from the restaurant kitchen located on the neighboring property. Other than that, we loved the comfortable layout of the condo, gorgeous view from the lanai, well maintained property, and great access to the beach side hiking path/boat ramp access and good snorkeling right off your own doorstep. That was very very inconvenient as we were going out to dinner and we were leaving for the other side of the island at 3:30pm. Had to wash my hair in the beach shower at the hotel next door. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2010 I was told we would be able to check in early (by 2pm) and when we showed up at 2:30 the room had not been cleaned. With 3 kids we had to wait until 6 pm to get into our room?? Absolutely no compensation from your company, just a bottle of wine from the women in charge of the cleaning crew. We definitely won't stay here again nor would we ever recommend it!! Property Manager Response: Response from Hawaii Holiday Vacation Rentals This guest did not confirm an early check-in with our office before arrival, but just showed up early expecting access. And yes, our incredible cleaning crew did drop the ball on this unit change-over and we were very apologetic! The room was available to them by 4:30pm and the Housekeeping Manager provided them Kona Coffee and Maui-made cookies and all sorts of other goodies for their family, all specially purchased. The reason this guest was not offered compensation was because the party registered as a party of 4 and were in actuality a party of 5. We did not charge the guest for their fifth guest which we felt was due compensation for having to wait for the room -- which they agreed to. We strive for the best customer satisfaction and felt this was fair all around. This guy is not being honest!! |

We golfed at a couple of courses and enjoyed that as well. The room was very nice, clean and had all the essentials needed. The reservation process was prompt as well as the receptionist at the condos. The lawn was so pretty @ impeccable. I would recommend this property and hope to enjoy it again ourselves sometime. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2010 The lock box was a real disappointment as we couldn't get in. With a 2 yr old and groceries it was difficult but when the manager said there was a note about the lock box being broken that was unacceptable. Also, not having a door on the bedroom was a problem as well. 2 simple changes/fixes would make a huge difference. Property Manager Response: Response from Hawaii Holiday Vacation Rentals The lock box has now been repaired, however the owners have chosen not to put a door from the hall to the the bedroom as we rarely have more than 2 people in this condo at one time. |

There were several problems with the unit. The dishwasher did not work, the disposal did not work(we did report the problem, which some one did come by and try to fix but still did not work),the TV reception was snowy and not good, the kitchen was not well stocked. We had to buy a decent knife, cutting board and cheese grater. It is Hawaii and so these things did not matter that much. We did feel that the unit was slightly over priced when we compared the unit to others we saw. We know that Hawaii is suffering from lack of tourist. The owners should lower the price to $125. per night.We would return to this location but look for a better unit. |

Stayed for 5 days in March, 2009 Outstanding view, great location, very helpful and friendly property managers. Since we visited friends at two other nearby condos in Kihei (who paid a good deal less per night) we did hold our condo's pool, furniture, and appliances, etc. up against theirs. Kihei Surfside #604 did fall a bit short in these areas. The master bed, sofabed and kitchen appliances are in need of updating to bring the condo up to the same quality as its super view and location. Overall, still a great place to stay in beautiful Maui. |
