Needs a little work done A guest from Hiram, GA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2013 The cabin we rented last year was a lot better. This year's cabin A Sweet Retreat was not as nice. The front porch walk way was a trip hazard. Wood needs to be fixed when you go up the first set of steps. The bedrooms were good and spacious and bathrooms. The sleeper love seat was very very nasty. It had stains and dead bugs in it. Could not even use it. It smelt like urine. Also the grills need to be replaced. So nasty didn't want to use them. Also I think it may have a little mouse or something leaving droppings in kitchen. We will probably use American Mountain Rentals again but double check all cabins on your list. |

Our stay at "A Sweet Retreat" Kenneth C. from Columbia, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 Back porch and hot tub were old, worn, and disapointing. Bed sheets looked old and worn. A bedroom window had been left open and had let a lot of insects in. Did see a couple cockroaches. The cabin was very nice inside, furnished nicely, and very clean despite the bugs from the open window. Since this was my first cabin rental and I have nothing else to compare it to I can't honestly say that I would or would not recommend it to a friend. |

Not So Sweet Karen R. from Powell, TN does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2011 We were so disappointed with our cabin. When we left, the manager took a small amount off our bill, but it did not make up for the fact that our kitchen was inadequate all week (not enough dishes) and there was a huge container of paint and other maintainance materials being stored in one of the kitchen cupboards. The hot tub on the screened porch was filthy with mold and mildew. The bathrooms were not well cleaned. There was dust and TRASH behind and under the beds! Obviously, the cleaning staff is not doing a good job, nor is the person who oversees them. The dryer did not work when we arrived and had to be repaired. |

Either didn't work at all or too hot when we had the time. Dryer was a nightmare. Needed that badly being that we packed light b/c we had one! Need a new cleaning lady. Floors were nasty especially bathrooms. Had to go out and buy bleach and pine sol first thing. House should have been aired out the day we were coming, couldn't breathe...too musty. Office staff were great. Very polite and friendly. Will not use this rental company again. |

Poor Housekeeping, a shame in such a nice cabin Christine M. from Crown Point, IN does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in November, 2010 The cabin was decorated nicely for the holidays indicating sonmeone had been to the cabin recently but the housekeeping of the cabin was poor. We actually found dirty socks and underwear and a watch were still in a drawer in the bedroom from a previous renter. Evidence of mice was found with droppings and insulation in the utensil drawers and on the countertops. So our first day there, Thanksgiving, was spent washing all the silverware, utensils, dishes, and cookware and scrubbing all the countertops. We also had to scrub the grill as you couldn't even see the grates to cook. The garbage disposal did not work and kept backing up. (Service did come out to check it the Friday and found it to be burnt out) The light over the sink did not work, casting shadows over the counter work areas, resulting in a finger cut. I have rented cabins before in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area and have enjoyed our time there and have recommended this experience to others. But quite honestly, we did not all travel great distances to meet up and spend the holiday cleaning. And then when I go to the office, all I get is "I'm sorry", as if this is a common complaint. A suggestion: more than one distowel. A curiosity: We killed 21 moths in the upstairs bedroom, we couldn't even tell where they were coming from. WORST DESTINATION IN PIGEON FORGE Wilma C. from Alexander, NC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2010 This cabin was definitely 'no sweet retreat'. It had a terrible musty odor throughout -- we had to purchase deodorizer to help eliminate the odor. There were spiders and webs all over the cabin along with bugs (not lady bugs as we had been told to expect); dead worms on the kitchen counter top; light bulbs out in the bathroom and living room; few channels on the TV; we had to clean at least 15 minutes on the coffee pot to get it clean enought to use! We went back out and purchased hot and cold cups. The hot tub had a horrible odor. Needless to say, we won't be staying in your rentals again and will warn others to 'beware' as well! This place needs a real cleaning job. |

There was dust and cobwebs all over the place. The hot water tank had a leak and the closet it was in was full of mold. Most of us staying here had sinus problems each morning most likely due to sleeping near and breathing the mold and dust. The toilets backed up from time to time for no good reason. The grill would not light. The pool across the street wasn't cleaned during our entire stay. By the third night I wouldn't let my kids swim in it. |

Sweet Retreat ...Mostly Pamela M. from Cordoda, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2010 The kitchen sink had a terrible odor, smelled like shrimp or rotten meat. I suppose this could have been missed during cleaning and the odor developed over the day by the time I got there.Luckily there was dishwaher powder that I could dump into the drains to help there were good supplies. I could not locate the sheets for the sleeper couch. the bed in the bed room to the right had a bed that was ok in general but it felt 'wonky' like it was going down hill. the other down bed was fine. I believe someone HAS smoked in the cabin, I am very sensitive to the smell, but if not in they atleast smoked and laid smokey clothes on the furniture which leaves an odor. The cabin was clean, overall it was fine,nice decor, staff was helpful. I would recommed it...just make sure the sink doesn't stink |

A Sweet Retreat A guest from Nashville, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2010 Overall this was a great cabin. It has a nice kitchen and plenty of room. The swimming pool across from it was a great treat. On the downside - the hot tub needed to be cleaned and there were spiders and webs throughout the cabin. Also it backs right up to a dirt sided hill and there are a lot of steps to go up to get onto the front porch. Overall it was a nice cabin and the location was far enough away as to not be right in the middle of the hustle and bustle but close enough to stores and Pigeon Forge as to not have to drive very far. I would definitely recommend this property especially if you would like to have a pool. |

We refilled it every day. I have never had to do this before. Also, we were forced to delay our departure on a very long drive home to comply with the office hours for returning keys. This is silly. There should have been a drop box somewhere! The folks running the office and helping with directions were absolutely wonderful! Our family really enjoyed being together for this brief reunion and it was such a pretty location with a pool for the kids. What a great time we had. |

The cabin though was not clean. There was an empty drink can in a drawer with the remote. There was no iron but mgmt brought one to me a few hours after I called. The microwave didn't work but mgmt replaced it the same day. The garbage disposal didn't work and several electrical outlets in the house didn't work. Lamps were plugged up but didn't work. There was food left in the fridge from the previous guests. Overall, I was dissatisfied because I felt the cabin was dirty. I stayed in a cabin earlier through American Rental and that cabin was great! The view was fantastic & the cabin was clean. |
