Stayed for 2 days in October, 2012 Pros:- Office staff was very nice- Nice sized chalet with full kitchen- Chalet was easy to find- Chalet is a quick, not too difficult drive up/down the mountain- Feels very secluded even though you can see other chalets nearby- Hot tub is niceCons:- The driveway is a little precarious- Vertical blinds to back deck missing several blinds, can't shut and have full privacy- Fire place either did not work, or two intelligent adults could not figure it out. I suggested they check to make sure it works and provide operating instructions to renters in the future- The bed is VERY old and uncomfortable. It was almost like sleeping on straight coils. - The "bear proof" trash bin latches would not latch. Overall, the chalet worked for our two night stay, but we were very disappointed that the fireplace didn't work and the bed was uncomfortable. |

Pooh Bear Lair - Review A guest from Arden, NC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2012 The cabin was nice, in a good location to both Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge. However, I was not happy with the website or customer service. The website did not display hidden fees, so the expense of the cabin was more than that which I had budgeted for. The customer service I experienced was poor as well. Each time I talked with them, it appeared that they were not happy to discuss any questions I had, nor did they come across happy to have renters. Lastly, the bed though it was king size was very uncomfortable, causing back pain in the morning for both my wife and I. The jacuzzi was poorly maintained. Only one seat had properly working jets, the rest were working at half or less than half capacity. We had a great time in the Gatlinburg area, and look forward to returning, however, we will be staying with a different company. |

Pooh Bears Lair Nice Cabin Nathan B. from Ocala, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in February, 2012 Overall a nice cabin for a couple with a few caveats. As a travel agent I look at all the little details including the big ones. The first one is the driveway condition and it's location. While nothing can be done about it's location the driveway is somewhat at a crazy angle and is almost impossible to see where you are going both pulling in and backing out onto a road with traffic on a blind corner. Needless to say I was nervous about the driveway the entire 8 days we were there. It does not have a washer/driver a definite negative and the hottub didn't work after one use. I'm sure they (AMR) have it all fixed by now. We have stayed at a lot of different AMR properties and have enjoyed them for the most part. The staff are wonderful and they make you feel welcome. I would just say expect some weird driveway entrance conditions and take that into account. I would arrive to the cabin in the daylight so you can unpack and get a lay of the land then go grocery shopping. Overall a great stay just watch the middle landing of the stairs, my wife slipped on the slender edge of the stairs. However, when we walked into the kitchen we were greeted with hundreds of dead bugs all over the floors. We searched for a broom and found the vacum cleaner & cleaned them up. Cobwebs were still in floor corners. Outdoor lighting was not operating from solar lights, and we replaced the porch light with the only existing replacement bulb. We discovered several hours later that the right porch railing was dangerously loose - if someone were to unknowingly lean on it, it would easily break off, & could result in human physical injury. |

Stayed for 2 days in March, 2010 Good location nice and private good views,however cabin was listed as a 1 br which sleeps 2,It really is only a loft bedroom so do not bring children and do not plan on sleeping in as there is no wall to keep the light out.This was very dissappointing to us as we ended up bring our son, who slept on the couch.We had know privacy plus the morning light woke us us a 1br is 4 walls with a door on it so we feel we were deceived.also Cabin was in ok condition but very outdated,the decking and porch have not been maintained ,had mold and was very slippery, getting in and out of the parking was difficult.The hot tub cover was was water logged and too heavy to take off didn't matter as we would not have used anyway since the hot tub was falling apart.The fireplace turn on value was on the side and you could not see how to operate. |

It had everything you could possibly want, was very clean, modern, private and easy to find. It was especially nice to be so close to the trolley stop to go to either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Our only disappointment was that we could not stay longer. One thing however that should be mentioned upon making reservations is the cash deposit for keys and also a cash deposit if you plan to use the pool. The lady whom we checked in with was not the most friendly person. She seemed somewhat irrated with my questions. The lady whom we checked out with definately made up for the first ladies shortcomings in customer service. We plan to go back to Pooh Bears Lair as soon as we get another chance. |

Stayed for 3 days in October, 2008 As a rule, I usually don't like the places I go on vacation. That is until I stayed un the Pooh Bear cabin in Gatlinburg, TN. The cabin was perfect, the scenery was breath taking and the weather was perfect. The people were friendly and helpful. I loved it so much that this will be my vacation spot from now on! The people at American Cabin Rental were helpful and curteous.Tou guys are the best!! |

Stayed for 3 days in August, 2008 The inside had a mustty smell, that bothered both our allergies. The walls needed fresh paint that looked like painted as far as they could reach with out the use of a comon 6 foot latter.The outside hot tube side wood trim was in need of repair. The inside hot tub had a sediment that seperated out after the water sat in the tub after the jets were turned on. We did not get into the tube because we changed our schedule and did not drain the water. We were going to be back in a couple hours we thought we would just add some hot water. |

If you like to share your chalet with spiders, cockroaches, ants, and various other bugs, rent this one. A guest from Aurora, IL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2008 This is a very basic chalet. It's pretty run down and not in very good condition at all. We paid July 4th premium rates and were very disappointed. Everything worked fine, but the entire stay was overshadowed by the amount of critters crawling aroung the inside. We were greeted the first day with a the biggest spider I have ever seen, in the downstairs bathroom. There were ants and moths in the kitchen. The second day we found a three inch cockroach on the floor of the bathroom that appeared to be dying a slow death. We couldn't relax because we never knew what we would find next or where. I understand in the mountains to expect some insects, but this was rediculous. We have rented chalets before and never had ANY problems with bugs inside. There was NO view of the mountains, contrary to the add. The checkout clerk never asked us how our stay was. We will NOT rent from American Mountain rentals again. Stick with Mountain Laurel Chalets - very friendly staff and chalets as advertised. |

This cabin is defenitely a little piece of heaven in the middle of a lot of acivities. This cabin is located between Pigeon Forge and Gatlingburg with very easy access to both cities. The cabin is nestled into the trees of the smokey mountains. The other cabins near by but the balcony is surround but trees and gives great privacy. So forget the hotels and stay in the woods. |
