Our overall stay was wonderful. Would have liked for the ca in to be a little cleaner than it was. The basement floor was cracked and lifting badly behind the pool table. The outside motion lights never worked which made it difficult getting up the steps into the cabin at night, we did call about that twice. The tv in bed room didn't work well either.

Our family of 4 recently stayed at Crooning Pines and absolutely loved the cabin. We witnessed bears outside the window on several occasions and found the view to be magnificent. All the conveniences of home and more were there for us. A few minor things were the dishwasher was full of water in the bottom...we called and they someone to fix it but it continued to do the same thing so we had to wash them by hand...not a huge deal. The playstation 3 had not a single game to play so I'm not sure why they mention that it is available when there are no games for it. We loved the pool table and electronic darts and were competing all week! The drive up was cool for the kids but terrifying for me, but seemed to get easier as the week went on. A lot of driving to get up to the cabin so we didnt want to go down a lot into town. Pizza delivery up to the cabin was a huge bonus on our first night with few groceries! And it was good pizza too!! We miss the cabin and would love to go back again.

Thomas G. from Hammond, LA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013
Well, this cabin, if you have seen pics already is 3 floors, beautiful, with large windows, and style. We loved it. In the mornings, we were on the top floor deck drinking coffee. In the evenings, we were on the deck in hot-tub. We watched about 3 movies on the big tv on the bottom floor. The PS3, sadly, was not working (reported). We played pool. The dart board was non-functional, and no indoor darts. The game room refrigerator had mildewy water and was reported as not working. The dishwater did not work when we were checking out. Majority of the remotes had no batteries (reported & remedied) Please do not let these little things marr the fact of how wonderful a place this is. My wife and I enjoyed staying in the cabin by ourselves. It felt truly private on the tree covered steep hill. We sat/stood for long periods just looking out, having relaxing drinks and talking. We would come back here if we came to the Smokies again for sure! The driveway (though steep even for walking & loading /unloading vehicle) did not give me problems; I had good tires and put it in low, goosing it a bit. No problem with my 4 cylinder Sonata. Also note, the BBQ grill required charcoal, so we did not use it.Thank you for a great place to stay and recharge/reconnect with my wife and nature!

Richelle W. from Demotte, IN recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in June, 2013
The cabin over all is great! We wanted it to feel like a secluded cabin in the mountains with a view, and we got it! It's older than some of the other cabins in the area, but I felt that it gave it a certain charm. It had ants, but they were all dead, again it's a cabin in the woods on a mountain, its going to happen...I loved the loft area and the new porch up there! The basement was nice, we used the satellite radio a lot, but the couches were dirty, I wish i could say they weren't...but they were flat out dirty. It was just my husband and I so, we didn't spend a lot of time down there, however. The main living area and loft were both very clean, kitchen is updated. The main floor deck was getting older, I'd love to see an updated deck like the loft area had! The view was AMAZING!!!! The drive up to the cabin is steep and the drive way is steeper, but we had a good laugh about it, and we thought it was part of the charm, & it also keeps the cabin better secluded. After long days of zip lining and hiking, the hot tub was clean and relaxing. Beautiful to be able see the mountains while relaxing on the deck in the hot tub!

Yet, our friends drove up in a car and a few bags of salt so we cold get out. Very dissatisfied. Very, very, dissatisfied.

Couldn't have asked for a better vacation. The cabin was amazing, very homey and comfortable. Loved the hot tub on the deck and the views. It was located in the perfect place for visiting the Smoky Mountain Park and both nearby towns for touristy stuff. We would highly recommend for a vacation for couples or families. LOVED IT!!!

Gorgeous views and comfortable cabin
A guest from Versailles, KY recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in October, 2012
Crooning Pines is a very beautiful cabin nestled in the woods and quite far up on the mountain. We really loved the cabin and enjoyed the amazing view from the windows and the wonderful porch! I would, however, advise AMR to really make people aware when reserving this cabin, that it is a very curvy and steep climb much of the way to get to this cabin and many other cabins in the area. I read one brief review mentioning this, however, we were very shocked at just how steep the grade is and continues to get along with some hairpin turns uphill/downhill. It had been raining and the roads were wet - but, 60 degrees outside. I drive a Toyota Sienna with a V8 and I lost traction climbing the hill in one spot where road makes a very sharp turn while going up, and then proceeds to get much steeper as you are finishing the turn. Using a lower gear helped and when the road is dry it is much better. After making it through that stressful event, we then had to climb the driveway to Crooning Pines - WOW, steepest driveway I have ever been on- not for the meek and those that have not driven in the mountains (which I have). There is a sign fairly early on that advises chains/snow tires in winter, but, I don't recall knowing this ahead of time. You can park at the bottom of the driveway, which is what many had journaled (in a book there for people to journal)and we did for several days. You would want to be sure to have good/newer tires and brakes that are in great condition as you will need them. Other than having trouble getting the TVs to work (maintenence came and fixed) and not being able to watch a movie as we could never get the DVD player in the basement to work and the other 2 are blue ray only - would not play our regular DVD discs, we enjoyed the cabin and hot tub, pool table, fireplace, porch, views very much. Great time by all! Loved Dollywood and the hiking!!

Stayed for 4 days in August, 2012
The cabin was beautiful on the inside as the pictures depict, and spacious. There were a couple things not clean. The dishwater broke while we were there, but the company was quick to try to address it. The driveway is steep and you have to drive quite a bit up very steep roads to get there, but the view is beautiful! The deck was not in as good of condition as the rest of the cabin - spots were fairly rotten. The tile floor in the basement was broken up along one wall.

We loved the view, we were so happy to be there, the drive up was something we were so unprepared for being from the West. The Smokey Mtns are not like the Rockies. We were not prepared for the steepness. We had to use the neighbors driveway to get a running start to get up ours. But once there WOW it was all fantastic! Thank you so much, will come again just in a different vehicle.

The cabin was beautiful! Although the place was clean, I have a couple of thoughts of how it could be a little more user friendly.*The tv should have a 'how to work' manual so that the equipment could be used and enjoyed. Just because its there, doesnt mean that it works or that it should take hours to figure it out.*There are some areas of 'attention' that should be addressed... the floor in the basement should be fixed. Darts should be maintained for each clients stay.

The location was in good for accest the the national park. It is close to the Gatlinburg bypass. The road to get there is tricky and the driveway is very steep. The cabin has settled some, so there things like broken floor tile in places. Other than that it was very clean. Not everything worked properly: the hot tub and jacuzzi made bubbles, but many of the settings were broken. Overall, we had a nice stay though.

Crooning Pines Review
A guest from Cincinnati, OH recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in December, 2011
The check in was very nice and easy. Directions to the cabin were also very easy. The road was very steep and narrow not a place I would want to be at if there was any snow. The location was pretty private, one cabin next door but no windows on that side of the cabin so it was like they were not even there. We had to report any problems with in 2 hours of check in and the tv was the only thing not working right. The repair guy took no time to get there and was very helpful and nice. The cabin is only about 15 from pigeon forge and only about 20 min from gattlinburg the majority of the drive is down the moutain because crooning pines sits very close to the top. All in all a nice private cabin with a pretty view looking out toward pigeon forge.

Crooning Pines
Sarah M. from North Bend, OH recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in November, 2011
We travel to this area on a yearly basis, and always rent a cabin for our stay. Crooning Pines is definitely at the top of our list for best cabins. An extremely beautiful design with spiral stairs, 3 floors, and many fun ameneties. The view is spectacular! We could see Pigeon Forge from our balcony, which at night was beautiful with all of the lights. Using our binoculars, we were able to pinpoint exactly what attractions we could see from the deck of our cabin. We have stayed in this same subdivision before (sky harbor) but have never had the excellent view Crooning Pines had to offer. The only cons of the cabin itself come from the cleaning personnel and the maintenance department. It sleeps 8, and can seat 8 at the kitchen :) which is important for dinner at the cabin. However, only enough pillows and blankets for 2-3 people. The driveway is a steep climb, but worth it for the view!! We would definitely come back to Crooning Pines in the future!

Dirty cabin

Stayed for 5 days in July, 2011
Sorry to report but my family and I were very disappointed with our stay at Crooning Pines cabin. In fact, we left one day early due to the condition of the cabin. When we first arrived we discovered that the fridge was not working. We called but the maintenance person was unable to come that evening due to having other maintenance work. It was repaired the next day but again went out and was still not working when we left on Thursday. For the majority of the time we had no ice and most of our refridgerated food spoiled. Also when we arrived the coffee pot had a small amount of coffee in the pot which had mold growing on it. The floors had dead bugs on them and looked like they had not been swept or mopped in a very long time. There was hair on the floors and on the bed comforter, which looked like it had not been washed in years. In fact, the place felt so dirty that on the 1st morning we woke up we went straight to the store to get bleach. I spent over 2 hours cleaning the bathroom and floors with bleach water. It was not pleasant what was on the floors. The shower curtain in the master bath was very mildewed and smelled. The other bath's temperature gage was broken and even when the repair man came and repaired it, it still was not working correctly. There were carpenter ants in the master bath and one morning we woke up to find the ants had made their way into the kitchen and about 50 ants had gotten into our donuts. There were no sheets for the hide a way beds. The TV in the bedroom never did work. Seemed like the cable was not getting a signal and stayed locked up. The mountain view was nice but there were a few dead trees that need to be cut that block the nice view. I think this cabin could be a nice place but it definitely needs some updating and more importantly deep cleaning!! At this point I could not recommend this cabin to anyone.

A guest from Navarre, OH does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 7 days in April, 2011
This cabin was not very clean with bugs and cobwebs everywhere. The bedspread on the master bed was old, torn, and dingy looking. There were no blankets except for some thick comfortors that were stored on the dusty floor of the closet. (There's no way these could ever be washed.) The place was supposed to sleep 8 but there were only 3 pillows total and no extra linens. Other than cleanliness, we really didn't like the extra steep drive to get up into the vacinity of Sky Harbor, especially to our cabin. Way too steep for our liking! The view was beautiful, the cabin itself was nice but some heavy cleaning needs to be done, including windows. We paid over $1,000 for a dirty cabin. When we asked to have it addressed, the lady came and did some cleaning but just didn't have the same standard of clean that we do. She tried. My brothers have stayed in cabins through AMR rental agency and have always raved at how clean and spotless they were. We were disappointed.

in summary my wife and i were very satisfied with our stay. the cabin was really nice and the location was perfect. however, there was a lot of garbage outside the property. there were pop cans, wrappers, bottles, ect. there was also a bunch of trash on the west side of the property between crooning pines and the neighboring cabin. im not quite sure what it was but it was an eye sore. it looked to be a bunch of construction leftovers. the weather was gorgeous and the fall colors were outstanding! we hope to come back someday!

Crooning Pines: great cabin, great vacation

My wife and I vacation in the Smoky Mountains every few years and have stayed in campgrounds, resort hotels, and other cabins. This was our first time renting from American Mountain Rentals, and we can happily report that Crooning Pines cabin rates easily among our best experiences. On check-in at the rental office, we were given clearly written, easy to follow directions to the moderately remote location of the cabin (be prepared for some steep climbs), and on arrival we found the cabin to be immaculate, with all amenities in working order. The hot tub was clean, sanitized, and hot, and all lights and appliances in the cabin were in working order--something you can't always take for granted in a vacation rental cabin. Both bathrooms and the kitchen were spotless and bright, and the bedroom was clean and cozy.We spent two of our five days entirely at the cabin and found it to be quiet and restful, with a beautiful view. Note that the view from both decks is slightly obscured by trees, but not to the extent that I would say it's impaired. My wife and I both felt that it added to our sense of seclusion and privacy while still allowing us to enjoy a vista extending for miles. We didn?t have much occasion to evaluate the service of AMR since everything was clean and we had nothing to request of them, but during our stay a strong storm system did move through the area and we lost power for about 90 minutes or so. We called the rental office to report this and they courteously told us that utility company crews were in the area attending to the problem. We highly recommend Crooning Pines to anyone considering a cabin vacation in the Smokies.

There was a large sink hole in the middle of the driveway. It was not fixed before we got there and difficult to maneuver our car around without causing any damage to our car. When the driveway is already extremely steep and there is a 7 foot hole at the top of the hill, I would recommend notifying your guests that it's there or fix it before they get there. We didn't know it was there and scraped the bottom of our new car. Overall the stay was good, but the driveway became irritating.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much and had only a fee minor complaints. The pool table was not level and tha rails were broken, but we still had a great time playing pool. The darts for the dart board were all broken. We were able to find three that were playable. The drive way was in bad condition it had a very large sink hole in it next to the level parking area. The last thing that worried us was when we were siting in the hot tube the support holding up the deck above us was completely split in half, and deffinitly needed to be replaced. Other than that our stay was absolutely amazing! We plan to visit again.

Cabin was beautiful, but driveway was nearly impossible to get up. Besides not having any level spot to park when you got up there was a huge hole in the middle of the driveway that made it very hard. Also the cabin had a terrible bug problem. We woke every morning to dead roaches and other incects. Nice spot, but unless you have a 4 wheel drive the driveway is way to steep for a regular car. It was very scary getting to this cabin. Roads were also incredibly steep.

The landscape around the cabin could be better. Trash from building the cabin was piled around it. This cabin is absolutely beautiful!! The view from the balcony deck is amazing. That would've been my favorite place to hang out if not for the hot tub on the lower deck. We found there to be pleny of cooking utensils in the kitchen which made it very easy to prepare any meals. The bed was very comfortable and the the water pressure of the shower was great eventhough some reviews said it was weak. My complaints are very minor ones. It would be nice to have a TV on the main level living area, since the one in the bedroom didn't work. Also a bathroom in the lower level would be nice since that is where the TV and rec room are. Let me first start out by saying that the upstairs part of the cabin was clean and enjoyable, the view was great and our stay was peaceful. However the basement/game room was dirty and not a place I wanted to spend long periods of time (stains on futon, dead bugs on floor, broken wood floor in front of futon area, etc). In addition, the fireplace upstairs didn't work, several ceiling lamps didn't work, and the front door glass was broken (not very welcoming). Unfortunately everything I just listed has been documented in the cabin's guest book since 2006 by many guests, yet nothing has been done about any of it. Such a shame to let a great place like this go downhill. Hopefully the owners take what we have to say to heart and give Crooning Pines a little TLC so it has a chance to stand the test of time. All in all we made the best of our stay by avoiding the basement and enjoyed our time together as a couple. You are so fortunate to be surrounded by such beautiful scenery!

I felt we were decieved about features in the cabin. The description online in American Mountain Rentals website stated there was a plazma screen TV to watch while in front of fireplace. There is no plazma anywhere in property, only older style CRTs, and there is no TV anywhere on main level, unless you want to go lay in bed to watch TV. If you decide to go to the basement to watch TV, or for anything else, be sure to go while it's light because the area didn't have a working light to see how to get down the stairs at night.I sent an email to the property manager about burned out bulbs and incorrect discription, but he has yet to respond. This is my first and last time renting from American Mountain Rentals.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. The only things that we had a problem with were that the darts were broken and we looked forward to playing them. Also, the pool cues were horrible. There was only one good pool cue. I read some entries in the guest book and it looks like several people have had the same problem (they go back all the way to 2007). I would think that if people are paying almost $200 a night that they would fix those problems. Other than that, we had a wonderful time.

Crooning Pines is a nice cabin. I liked the spiral stairs and all the large windows. I would not recommend any small children in this cabin. The driveway is terrible. Could maybe improve the driveway by filling in and coming up undre the deck. Could have a standard size ironing board, hangers, bed sheets for the sofa beds, tea kettle, and new mattresses for all beds. For safety, replace board on the upper small deck from the loft and replace broken window in the kitchen door. The view is nice at night, you can see the lights in Pigeon Forge. The next time I visit, I'll ask how the driveway is at the cabin I plan to stay at. I like it in the Smoky Mountains. I do plan to return.

The cabin did not have the view that was pictured. I think that probably the trees have grown up over it. It would be great if some of that was cut down. Lots of bugs! Some are to be expected, but some are due to the gaps between doors and windows. I wish you would warn people of the steep driveways. We had to turn around at the neighboring cabin just to get turned into the drive. Please fix the huge hole in the drive. The bottom of our car scraped BADLY. Please fix the cracked glass in the door, according to the guest book it has been there for quite sometime. I was kind of diappointed with the price of the cabin. It was nice, don't get me wrong, but I don't think we will be doing it again.

When we finally arived up the very curvy narrow, steep roads we were greeted by a huge pothole in our driveway. (They need to tell you a truck is recommended but did not.) FIRST thing we saw was a busted door window all taped up. We were also greeted by inside temps of over 99 degrees (digitial gague only went 2 digits) and the cleaning crew, (we were not early). When we asked the cleaning guy why so hot what's wrong he didn't know why and had not even notified maintenance yet. That would have been the first thing I would have done. It was not pleasant to have 99+ temps indoors. Maintance was not on till 5PM and it was 3:30 now, I called the office and told them the situation, they didn't offer any other acomodations and said they'd send out the a/c guy. I said "we'd like a fan since your aparently not going to move us and we won't be back". By now cleaning folks were gone, I noticed cob webs at every door frame, cockroaches on floor and TON'S of ants in bathroom and some in kitchen, I called office and cleaning guy came back. The place was very dusty. I even put the bedspred in washer on hot w/no detergent (didn't have any)and the water was filthy. Dart tips for dartboard were mostly busted. A/c guy ended up adding more freeon and by 8 p.m. it was down to 80. Bee's were flying all over the deck, large nest my husband knocked down and doused it with bee spray, still had bad bee situation through out stay. Could see outside through some of the log walls. Not the best experience.

Our family would definitely stay at this beautiful property again and recommend it to friends. It was affordable, conveniently located and had all the amenities for cocooning as a family. Our only critique would be that the auxilliary comforters/pillowcases seemed to need a wash, and a few of the railings on the loft porch were a little rickety and needed to be stabilized. But for the most part, we loved it. We thought the cabin and woodwork were beautiful, the furnishings were great, and especially enjoyed the old photos (nice touch--would love to know the history of the place). It would be nice if you could provide more journal pages in the Visitor Log so more guests could write their comments--always fun to read. Thank you, it was great!

First off, we stayed at this cabin on our honeymoon. It was fairly easy to find and perfectly located right between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge with anything you could possibly want to do. The view was nice, but honestly, I didn't expect to be so close to other cabins. Could hear other parties outside slamming doors and with screaming kids. The grounds were not so neat. There was some kind of construction waste all along the side of the cabin along with beer cans littering the yard. The inside of the cabin and it's set up was beautiful! The master bath and bedroom were obviously the focal point of the cabins design; they were by far the most beautiful areas in the cabin in my opinion. However, the first impression was not what I expected when arriving to the cabin to see half of the front door taped together. And according to the stay logs, it has been that way since 1997!!! That's discouraging seeing as how much it is to rent the place. You'd think that you wouldn't allow something so tedious and relatively inexpensive dim the beauty of the place. But overall, very satisfied all the way around. Thanks for a wonderful honeymoon!!

It is a very steep and winding drive to this cabin. Only one guardrail on the whole road and I hated every second of the drive. The driveway was probably the steepest part. There is also a large sink hole in the middle of the parking area. If you can get past that then you are in for a treat. The staircase is beautiful and the view is absolute heaven. The fireplace is so inviting and warm. The hottub made me a little nervous because some of the suppport beams have large cracks and the whole deck leans over the hill in that area.Even with all the other cabins around we still had a lot of privacy. My initial assessment was that the cabin was awesome and it is. I flew from South Korea (military) to take my family on a week of vacation like we do every year. I noticed that the amenities were great but most some simple necessities were not like a can opener. Many comments in the guest book have not been addressed. The driveway is a killer on cars and the cabin leaks badly on the hot tub side of the cabin including the loft, master bedroom, and living room (all over outlets, furniture, and personal gear. I was fed up and turned in my key early after two days of cleaning water and ruined pictures (water leaked into suitcase), to be refunded for the night i wasn't staying. The office was aware of the deficiencies prior to my complaint call but made no effort to inform me in advance of the problems. The policy letter gives 2 hours from arrival to report problems....kinda hard when it waits two days to losses were beyond monetary value.

My wife and I were very pleased with our stay at Croonong Pines. If possible, I would have much rather had a driveway that was not as steep, but I guess that's the whole point of going to the mountains. Our car's transmission was punished easch day as we made our way up the mountainside as well as the driveway alone. It was also a bit nerving being that we don't actually have mountains in Alabama. There seemed to be some leaks downstairs in the gameroom that looked to have been coming from the upstairs shower or tub. WILL NOT RENT FROM THIS RENTAL FIRM AGAIN
RONNIE B. from HERMITAGE, TN does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in October, 2008
The staff was not friendly or helpfull except for an emergency number we had to call - the man we spoke with was Mike. We had a group of college boys next door that was very loud and kept us awake. That was the reason we had to call the emergency number. Their unit was with another rental firm so we were told there was little that could be done. There was mold in the cabin, on the 3 TVs we could only get about 3 stations, the darts for the dart game were broken. The view was great, but the driveway was horible. We have taken many trips to this area, but this had to be the worst trip ever

Crooning Pines Could Be Better
A guest from Sweetwater, TN does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 4 days in October, 2008
We stayed from Sunday to Thursday. The main concern was the directions we were given to get to Crooning Pines. The directions we were given required us, as well as the two cars following us, to go past the driveway, turning around in a neighbors driveway and come back up to the driveway of Crooning Pines. Upon reading the guest book, we discovered a better entrance which allowed us to simply pull into our entrance without turning around. The glass in the front door is TAPED and has been written about in the book since 2006, come on...these cabin rentals aren't cheap-fix the glass in the door! The big black hole in the driveway was also mentioned in the book numerous times-fix the big black hole! The maintence crews on the other hand were great! They were prompt to replace blown bulb in two bedrooms and the main bathroom. They also fixed the problem with the TVs as well as suring up two VERY loose rails on the balcony and porch. One last suggestion that would help tremendously is to cut down the dead trees next to the porch-wasps nests are inside. Trim other trees by the porch so the magnificent view can be seen.

OUR STAY AT CROONING PINES
Steve M. from Tampa, FL recommends this property.
Stayed for 8 days in August, 2008
WE REALLY LOVED THE VIEW AND CABIN, HOWEVER, THERE WERE A FEW ISSUES WE HAD WITH IT. NONE OF THE DVD PLAYERS WORKED AT ALL. THERE WERE NO USEABLE DARTS FOR THE DARTBOARD SO WE COULDN'T PLAY DARTS. THE SURROUND SYSTEM WAS BROKEN AS WELL, SO THE 52 INCH TV HAD BAD SOUND QUALITY. THERE WERE A FEW MINOR ISSUES WITH LIGHT BULBS BURNT OUT AND NON WORKING IN THE LOFT AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE CABIN. THE LOFT ONLY HAD A DVD PLAYER ATTACHED AND DIDN'T WORK SO THE TV WAS USELESS UP THERE. IF THE OWNERS AREN'T AWARE, THERE ARE GAPS IN THE SIDING THAT YOU CAN SEE THROUGH THAT ALLOW LOTS OF BUGS TO ENTER.

Our Honeymoon at Crooning Pines
Clifton J. from Beech Grove, IN recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in August, 2008
Crooning Pines was a great location to spend our honeymoon. The cabin was private but not as secluded as we expected. The pictures lead you to believe there is a carport, but you have to park on a steep hill or walk up the hill to the cabin. There were also some minor maintenance problems, such as burnt light bulbs and broken darts and pool sticks. The view would be much better if the trees right in front of the cabin were trimmed. However, overall we are very satisfied with our experience at Crooning Pines. The cabin was beautiful and the staff at American Mountain Rentals was pleasant and helpful.

Crooning Pines Cabin in July, 2008
James E. P. from Webster Grove, MO recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in July, 2008
This was our first visit to the Smoky Mountains. The Crooning Pines cabin was a wonderful facility. First impressions of Pigeon Forge was that it looked like Branson on steroids: overdeveloped with lots of fast food, amusements and tatoo shops. Rather than a narrative description of how to get to Crooning Pines cabin, a map would be preferable. (Turn onto Silver Maple Drive three times!)The steep roads and especially the driveway were a challenge even for our V6 4WD Jeep! The view was excellent and even though there were cabins nearby, the trees allowed some privacy. The cabin was well-appointed and the pictures on the website were accurate. The TV/DVD remotes were a difficult mystery to unravel, but we managed to get them to work after some experimentation. We didn't know better, so we drove THROUGH Gatlinburg. It was even more overdeveloped than Pigeon Forge, with stop-and-go traffice all the way through. Use the bypass to go to/from the National Park, which was well worth the short drive from the cabin.Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Overall the cabin is beautiful. We tried to sleep in the loft but the sofa bed is in terrible condition and there is no ceiling fan so it was hot. We did sleep in the game room and the futon was very comfortable but it was dirty down there. It is obvious surface cleaning is done regularly but there were dead bugs in the window sills and under the furniture. The ceiling tiles were stained with water damage. On the other floors there were cobwebs on the ceiligs and bugs on the windows. There was a beautiful view but would have been nicer with clean windows. I may be real picky but these things made me uncomfortable. We looked at other cabins in the area while we were there and they were much cleaner. We did not use the hot tub. There was some kind of scub build up at the top of the water. Overall I loved the place and the 4 others that were with me did as well. Note, if there was a vacumn out to use I would have cleaned myself and enjoyed it more. Please don't take this as negative comments only just suggestions to make the cabin more desireable.

This is a nice cabin, however, it was in bad need of some tlc. In addition to being very dirty, many of the items needing fixing, as mentioned in the guest book, still hadn't been fixed. Also, we were very disappointed at how close the next cabin privacy on the decks. I think we have learned that the smaller cabin rental companies have cleaner, more well maintained facilities. All in all, it was still an enjoyable weekend getaway.

Overall, very satisfied. The house is beautiful and relatively private. It was a great size for 2, but definitely can accommodate more. Hopefully the dead trees in front will be removed soon so that the view will be clear. Beware of the driveway and don't drive a 4-cylinder car because the drive up is treacherous. Once again, our stay was very pleasant and the house was enjoyable.

overall we were pretty pleased with the property. There were a few things that I would like to note though. The forst thing we wanted to do when we arrived was jump in the hot tub but when we went to get in the water temp was 65 deg. so we had to wait until the next day to get in, then when we did get in, the water was really dirty like someone ate peanuts or something while in it. The only other thing I would note is that the surround sound speakers downstairs were blown and didnt sound very good. Other than these two things our stay was very pleasent and quiet. We would definately recommend to anyone.

1. Horrible smell coming from the refrigerator (lack of water softner)
2. No wireless internet
3. Lack of working security system

Crooning Pines...Nice and Cozy
A guest from Lexington, KY recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in March, 2008
We were very pleased with Crooning Pines. It was very charming and almost exactly as pictured on the AMRC website. The photo showed 2 futons in the basement, which we thought perfect for our teenager and her friend. Especially since this room has a big screen TV, pool table and snack area! However, when we arrived, there was only 1 futon and a non-sleeper sofa, so we had to adjust. Perhaps the website photo could be updated. The website also mentions a dart board, but the darts need to be replaced (none of the fins would stay on them, so we couldn't enjoy that feature). The cabin says sleeps 8, which it does with sleeper sofas in living room and loft, but be prepared for little privacy in either place as the cabin is very open. The driveway is steep, but manageable, although there is a large pothole in key spot. It appeared to have been filled just before our arrival as it was still soft. The guest book had several humorous references to it as well. Although there was a cabin next door, we never felt a lack of seclusion. The hot tub was great. The only things lacking were a can opener, a flashlight for emergencies, and extra light bulbs. Next time we'll bring these from home. We did notice many ceiling tiles in the basement that were very water stained, but we had no trouble with leaks down there during our stay. The upstairs loft window did leak heavily during a rain storm, with water dripping into the master bedroom. Caulking should be an easy fix, and we reported it to the management. Regardless of these little things, our stay was great. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We would definitely rent this cabin again and recommend it to others!

I would not recommend this property unless they spent some money to fix up and replenish kitchen and grill. The grill was filthy - the cooking utensils were limited and not very useful - the basement floor in need of repairs - dart board not working - all things we expected and paid for. Have found other "newer" cabins that would be cleaner - I think it's time for the owners to do some maintenance work and update somethings. They should read the book where comments and notes are left behind. Many would like digital cable in loft, not bedroom and window in front door fixed, a porch swing or rockers would be a great addition too, along with a picnic table. With competition the way it is up there they really should do some remodeling, updating, and repairs. Kitchen chairs were in weak condition and not hot water from upstairs shower.

The cabin and location were awesome. Unfortunately it rained the whole weekend but it was still relaxing. Unfortunately the pool table was in bad shape, the darts were broken, and I had to re-wire the home theater system as it was disconnected. These things would not have mattered much if we had not been shut in by the rain; but those issues and the broken glass were mentioned in the guestbook for at least the last six months ... time to get them fixed or stop advertising them as features.

The home was very clean however the hottub needed cleaning and chemicals were not available. The game room needs serious updates as all the pool ques were broken or bent and the darts were all broken. The drive way had a pothold so large that our vehicles bottomed out attempting to park in the only safe place. This was a very bad hazard and should be repaired! Be sure to inquire as to an alternate route into the property as the entrance to the drive requires you to pass it and turn around to come in from the opposite direction. Overall the house was beautiful and the view was spectacular.

The cabin had a pretty view. The driveway was difficult to manuever because of a steep incline and it had a huge pothole. The downstairs furniture was gross. It has a lot of stains. The upstairs kitchen & bed & bathroom were ok. In the master bedroom, the log walls need to be better sealed. I could see sunlight streaming through the cracks which could let bugs & spiders into where I was sleeping. The master bathroom shower leaks through the roof into the downstairs laundry room. There was a bra left hanging on the bathroom door by a previous guest. It made me wonder how thoroughly the house was cleaned. I put these things in writing and gave it to the office when I checked out in October 2007. I wonder if anything has been done to address these problems.

but it was obvious that it had been broken into. The glass on the front door had been broken and if I remember correctly it was repaired with a piece of tape. The condition of the driveway was totally unacceptable. There was a two foot deep hole approximately three foot in diameter in the driveway that had to be avoided or you would tear the bottom out of your vehicle and possibly get stuck. Overall our stay was very nice but if I were the owner/property manager I would be ashamed to take someone's money and then send them up the driveway. That may sound crazy unless of course you have seen it. I don't like giving bad reviews but this property needs some work. I might mention that it was October 2007 when we stayed so these repairs may have been made. I completed and turned in a survey when we checked out so if the staff at Ameican Mountain Rentals actually reads the surveys that they ask everyone to fill out then they may have fixed these problems. If not, then they clearly don't care about or even know the definition of 'customer satisfaction' We're planning a week long stay in June so that would be a good time to go by and check out the driveway.
