Traveling to China to search out furnishings and artwork, Lowell Tom of Philpotts & Associates of Honolulu, created interiors with a Far East inspiration. Each of the 4 bedrooms is carefully designed with comfort and taste in mind. The Master suite features a King bed opening onto a private lanai and access to the pool and sun daybed. The Master bath is an amazing room with opposite facing sinks with private vanity, separate toilet, shower and Jacuzzi tub room. The shower opens onto a private lanai with outdoor shower. Two of the bedroom suites feature Queen beds and are accompanied by a full granite and marble bathroom with dual sinks, shower, Jacuzzi tub and private garden. The last bedroom suite is a Queen bed with private en-suite bath. Each bedroom offers a flatscreen television, DVD stereo system and internet access.
The home follows a quad design, with a beautifully landscaped grassy courtyard at the center. Guests meander indoors and outdoors, seeking shade and sun, for the ideal balance of Wailea scenery. Each of the four main structures are connected by elaborate, rust-colored pillars and wooden, covered passages. You will use stepping stones over the interior water feature to reach each room of the house. You can also stop at the interior Zen garden.
From the pool deck, all five of the earthly elements: fire, earth, metal, water and wood can be seen. Bensley Design Studios of Bangkok are the creators of the landscape, sculpture and artwork. Their philosophy is to cultivate the natural landscape by infusing together physical, cultural and spiritual elements. Each sculpture is an artistic interpretation of a scene in Hawaiian history or an element of Hawaiian culture. For example, the fire torches at the edge of the pool are lava columns holding Pelés fire.
After dining in the courtyard or dining room, guests may effortlessly spill over into the living room, and onto the pool deck, to enjoy in some of Maui's finest sunsets. Or, come together with your family and friends to enjoy the vivid and relaxing spaces, then retreat through the breezeway to your own private suite.
