This cabin was a labor of love beginning with a dream of the family patriarch: Richard Barham. Mr. Barnham searched for years for the perfect piece of property to build his mountain oasis and chose this location because it is so close to charming downtown Twain Harte and just below the snow line. It was built by the Barham family over five years and thousands of hours. Mr. Barnham went to the railyards to pick up pallets that he used for the wood on the walls. He split the wood pieces, routed each edge, and then put dowel holes in each. If you look closely at the walls, you will see that many of the pieces match exactly! Constructing these was like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. All the light fixtures and wrought iron work were also designed and built by Richard Barham to make this home a true "jewel in the mountains".

our dream too!!
Allison H. from Fremont, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2016 The Barham family home was so comfortable it felt like we were at our own cabin in the woods...so peaceful and quiet and being able to have our family pet with us made it extra special...we could tell how well it was made and loved over the years by the family, thank you for sharing it with our family :)
A guest from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 30 days in June, 2016 ****'s Dream was the perfect place for our summer escape. We were looking for a quiet place that felt secluded and homey, was around lots of trees, and was close to lots of lakes and hiking. This fit the bill perfectly. It's a real vacation cabin, which to me means, nothing new, fancy or shiny, but rather well-loved wood, lots of history and some fun kitsch. It was very clean and everything worked well (washer, dryer etc.) We appreciated the pass to the private local lake which was a fun easy place to go swim to the dock and throw a football around. The house itself had puzzles, games, enough outdoor seating for everyone and a great grill which all made for a perfect escape. We can't wait to come back next year.
David D. from Simi Valley, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2014 We had an excellent time and found the cabin to be very comfortable and quaint. It was convenient to the location of our friends home, such that we would definitely be open to staying here again. We were very pleased with the unit.
A guest from Tracy, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2014 Cabin exceeded expectations, had an excellent quite and relaxing weekend. Had everything we needed just wish I had planned a longer stay.
A guest from San Jose, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2014 The stairway is very dim and needs more lighting, the BBQ did not have any propane, and there should be a TV downstairs in the living room, other than that it was quite nice. All of the beds were especially comfortable. We were unable to get the air conditioning to operate initially; the owner needed to be called but then once it worked, it worked very well and made the house quite cool.
Stephen K. from Castro Valley, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2013 Very nice cabin. Wish we could have stayed more days. Nice and quiet. The deck was a very nice area to relax. Bedrooms were all very nice with sinks in every room. Would definitely stay here again.
Jill M. from Turlock, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2012 This property is in a great location (very quiet) and the cabin was beautiful. We loved the large deck area. My complaints would be the showerheads were so low we had to bend down to get our heads under the water and some of the utensils needed updating in the kitchen because they were rusting and unusable. I would consider staying here again but I didn't like the $100 cleaning fee.
Rhoda (Roddy) M. from Oakland, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2010 Wouldn't want to go again to either of this year's houses, because they're too far from the lake. I'm 80 and Carl is 84, and it wasn't possible for him to walk that distance over to the lake. He was disappointed, because he likes to walk back and forth once or twice a day.. In the 2nd house, our kids and grandkids were back and forth all day long, of course, and they'd also much appreciate being closer. The rest of our vacation was fine, as it always is at Twain Harte!
A guest from Patterson, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2010 Parking was a little tricky especially after snowing or icy conditions. Shoveling snow out of the driveway is a must before it freezes.
Tara W. from Stockton, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2009 We had a great time, taking the kids to the snow. While there wasn't snow at the house-it was a 15 minute drive up the hill.
A guest from Pilot Hill, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2009 Cabin had personal clothing in drawers and closets - did not feel comfortable taking my clothes out of suitcase. Also, freezer was full of food - was not available for our use. I prefer to rent houses that do not have other people's personal items.
