Wonderfull large multi-level home great for families and large groups
Casa "Lucky Monkey House 2" is located just a short 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk to the beach in Tamarindo, made famous by the classic surf flick "Endless Summer". From the property perched on the hill above Tamarindo Bay, the ocean is visible beyond the seascape sunset. The ocean is visible beyond the trees even from the ground floor and the view from the higher floors looks out over Tamarindo bay and toward Langosta.
This wonderful three-story house is set in a grassy courtyard with a small shared pool. The large living area in Lucky Monkey 2 opens to a patio next to the pool through 2 sliding glass doors. The large ground floor living area of is convertible by a wooden retractable wall, creating a 5th bedroom with pull out bed and private bath. Also on the first floor is a beautiful fully equipped kitchen, with stunning granite counter tops and giant windows that flood the room with tropical sunshine.
The Lucky Monkey 2 has four bedrooms and the living room has a retractable wall with a full bath that can be easily converted into a fifth bedroom. LM2 can fit 10 people if they are all couples or if they share beds. The entire top floor is a matrimonial suite, complete with Jacuzzi tub, a California king, and some living room furniture.
The other three rooms on the second floor have queen size beds and the convertible room on the lower level has a pull out standard size bed. There is a separate parking in the back and a private entrance.
The dishwasher, refrigerator, and stove with oven are all stainless steel. All the appliances, cooking and serving items have been tastefully chosen. A laundry room with washer/dryer and laundry sink open off of the kitchen with a half bath at the base of the stairs. An arched doorway with relief ceiling leads from the living area to the hall and the base of the majestic stone stairway that curls around itself as it leads to the second and third level.
There are three bedrooms on the second level. Two identical rooms with queen size beds share a bathroom between them and each open on to a rounded patio overlooking the tropical forest foliage. One has an ocean view overlooking Tamarindo Bay and the pool. The forest foliage to the back and side of the house is often frequented by a friendly group of monkeys.
Up another flight of stairs is the fabulous master/matrimonial suite, which makes up the entire third level of the house. A double sized patio door makes almost an entire glass wall facing the sunset. From this height, the beach at the south point of Tamarindo Bay is visible, including Captain Island and the seascape horizon. A spacious bathroom doubles as a spa with a Jacuzzi tub on one side.
During certain times of the year, a four wheel drive car may be needed to access the house via car.
Tucked at the end of the street, this is a perfect spot to escape the world and enjoy the peace, quiet, and serenity that await you!!!

Very nice place, we really enjoy our vacations
Sergio V. from San pedro, San jose recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2016 The only thing is that the entrance to the house is complicated with an small car but other than that everything was fine
Paul B. from Flushing, NY does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in May, 2016 First of all, the location SUCKS..its far off the main strip up a hill and the house faces Playa Langosta ...so NO sunset view. The road its self is full of large rocks, ruts and we got stuck 3 times, and got a flat from construction debris in the area. Looks like they use the side of the house as a dumping ground. Upon entering the house, you have to contend with 8 different keys to open the door, worse of all , the cesspool cover is 4 ft from the door, makes everything smell magically regretful. The house IS HUGE, but needs much repairs and updates. The furniture on the main floor is inadequate, as are the pots and pans in the kitchen. The patio is small and full of ants everywhere. The pool is small but deep and has a nice lovely green tint to it and looks like something has been chewing on the tiles and cement around it. The rooms are nice and comfortable, but the walls, trim and balconies could use paint and some TLC. The dryer DID NOT work despite having told management and the housekeeper, it was never repaired. several bathrooms also had leaks in the ceiling. I ALWAYS rented a house or condo when I travel. This was, by far, the worst I have ever seen.
William R. from Wasilla, AK recommends this property. Stayed for 12 days in February, 2015 Wanting a more intimate setting for family, this was the perfect bill. We had a great time. There was a couple of issues that came up, but the management took care of them in a timely manner. Only issue that i had was with the anemities. It states that there is a jacuzzi. A small tub with jets does not a jacuzzi make. Just saying. Other than that, it was a very nice experience.
Paola V. from Santa Ana, CR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2014 La casa es bastante cómoda.
Beautifull town. Nice people. Good food. A paradise.

Reviewed by: James J. recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in February, 2009 Great stay at a great house near the beach in Tamarindo. Lot's of space, clean and comfortable. House staff were great and attentive and were good at solving any minor problems and answering questions. Good base to explore national parks in Palo Verde and Rincon de la Vieja and beach towns down the Nicoya coast. Not bad drive from San Jose, but better if you come down from Liberia. Great seafood and fishing and the surfing was the best for older people trying to get it up on the water ! Thanks for a great stay. We will be back ! p.s. and now we know why it is called the lucky monkey house. There was a big family of howler monkeys that would visit us in trees near the house in the late afternoon and sometimes in the mornings ! They were our closest neighbors for the week ! Also saw sea turtles and manta rays, plus lot's of cool birds. What a wonderful country and people. Pura Vida ! All the best, James
Reynaldo P. from Key West, Florida recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in February, 2009 Website pictures don't do any justice to the house it was very spacious. Walking to town is a short 10 min. walk but walking back is a different story, the house is located on a somewhat steep hill. A cab ride back will cost about $4-$5 but renting a vehicle is the way to go, it makes it a lot easier to get to the supermarket and such. The town is being develop very quickly, and you can experience monkeys hanging out on the trees outside the house, at the same time a couple of small field mice made their way inside the house, this being a huge no no in the States but taking our surroundings into consideration is to be expected.Great place!! I highly recommend it!!
