Unit Description:
The agriturism ???Il Granaino??? has an independent position with its own garden and has been recently restored. The house is on two floors:
on the first floor there are a dining room with a fireplace, the kitchen with fridge-freezer and dishawasher, a bathroom with shower-box and a very big living room with sofa, armchairs and piano. In the living room there are two walls made entirely of glass from which you can enjoy the garden.
On the second floor there are two bedrooms, both can be organized as double or twin beds, and one of them has a fireplace; on this floor there is also another bathroom with bath-tub (hand-held shower).
The house is provided with air conditioning/heating and in every room there is the possibility to regulate the temperature.
Overall Property Description:
The farm Il Cipresso is located on mount Lignano at approximately 400 m above sea level and is surrounded by land organized in terracing where live our olive trees, the farm is completed by 4 hectares of vineyards and 4 hectares of wood. Our farm is cultivated with the organic agriculture principles which was not very difficult for us as we never made use of pesticides. Simply we leave grass under our olive trees because it maintain the ground fresh and preserves it from loss of nutrients. We have also an organic apiary and we produce honey, wax, pollen and propolis.
The farmlands border with the Natural Park Rigutinelli on mount Lignano which live oaks, pines, heaters and brooms together with many wild animals like wild boars, roe deer, mouflons and hares which visit the farm quite often.
On the opposite side the farm faces the Valdichiana valley with a wonderful panoramic view. This valley gives the name to the huge white-hair cattle beef breed and from its meat come out the fragrant ???tagliata??? and the tasty and famous ???fiorentina??? steak. This breed is a very old one and it comes from a long genetic selection. Today it is used only for its great meat but at the beginning this breed was developed with a double purpose: as food and as a hard worker (especially to plow): its height (bull average height is 1,80m at withers) and its strength (it can reach 17q in weight) make the Chianina able to work difficult and wet lands which are typical of the Valdichiana valley.

Into the garden, during the warm season, we keep our old lemon trees which are in big earthenware pots because at this latitude winters are too cold to leave them outside. The garden is bounded by the ???Limonaia???, the place in which our lemon trees are kept in winter time. The ???Limonaia??? has a big balcony from which you can have the best panoramic view of the whole Valdichiana valley.
The agriturism represents a good starting point to visit beautiful Tuscan places, in fact it is 12 km far from Arezzo, 20 km from Cortona, 60km from Siena and 65km from Florence and it is also the ideal place to spend some free time in complete relax, to have a quite dinner in the garden or having breakfast under the shadow of the cedar of Lebanon in the little garden near the house. "Il Granaino" is also an optimal starting point to walk between the olive trees and woods of oaks and holm-oaks to reach the Natural Park which borders the property (1 km from the house) and where you and your children can give a close look to the wild animals that lives in the Park, Rigutino village is 2 km far away and Castiglion Fiorentino is 5 km far from the property.
In the farm there is henhouse with hens, chickens, rabbits and pigeons. Moreover you will surely meet the family of peacocks (8 of which 2 are white) that lives free and usually visits Il Granaino.
You can also participate to the various seasonally country works like the grapes-picking at the end of September to make wine, the olives- picking or make a visit to the local oil-mill to taste our just made extra-virgin olive oil in October and November. If you enjoy cooking you can help us to collect the fresh fruit like apples, blackberries, pears, eldberries, wild rose berries and so on to make traditional preserve of fruits. Moreover it is possible to participate to the apiary work to have a contact with the wonderful world of honey bees and learn about their development during springtime, how to gather the honey, propolis and pollen in summertime.
