Great Anniversary getaway, minus maintenance issues
Cody H. from Horse Shoe, NC recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2016 Our cabin was lovely and would have been a 10 star if it weren't for the door lock issues. When we arrived, our lock didn't work and we had to wait for maintenance. The maintenance crew was VERY professional and apologized for the inconvenience. It was definitely not the start of our anniversary that we would've hoped for having them in there with us for an hour. We decided to go to the store and they said they would call me with the new code, I never got a call and when we came back we were again locked out. Then two days later I got a phone message saying they needed to come back and fix it and that they would only be messing with the door. We were in the cabin relaxing when they came back. Again, they were apologetic etc. but I have two issues. 1.) when I came downstairs they were in the bedroom because the wiring was in there. I was told on my message they would be at the door only. 2.) This was our anniversary getaway and they were there another 2 hours. WHY couldn't this have waited until we checked out? Nobody wants to spend a romantic getaway with maintenance guys regardless of how nice they are. We didn't call them to come out again, I was called and told they were coming. If check out was at 10 am and if you had another guest coming that would give you 5 hours to take care of things. The door was working just fine with the temporary code and it should have been fixed when we left. Otherwise, other than some partiers screaming at the cabin above us, it was absolutely wonderful. I was just really disappointed with how things were handled and how it impeded on our getaway.

We can certainly understand your frustration regarding the door lock. We have state of the art locks at our cabins to prevent lock-outs from happening. They allow us to remotely access and program the codes to minimize the need for you to have to wait for a technician to go to the cabin. Unfortunately, this lock was malfunctioning during your stay. We can assure you, this is not common. In almost all cases of malfunction, one simple call to our Customer Service Department can resolve any issues. This was not the case in this situation. We value your privacy, and try our best to resolve any issues with the least amount of intrusions during your stay, however, still making sure that you will have access to the cabin. The technician was sent out to the cabin to replace the lock in hopes that it would correct the issue and there would not be any further problems with the code. We sincerely apologize for the intrusion, and would not have done so if we were sure the temporary code would work throughout the remainder of the stay. We did not want to take a chance of this happening late at night. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and hope you will consider staying with us again during your next visit to Gatlinburg.

We love the location and working with Elk Springs Resort staff.We were 2 girls short this year so we picked a smaller cabin..less expensive. It was hard going from The View cabin to Fontana. .Needs some improvement. As soon as we walked in smelled propane from the gas logs. .we burnt a candle the whole time we were there. Beds were not comfortable at all..sofa sleeper was not worth pulling out. .Sofa is diffently wore out..So needless to say we will not pick Fontana next year for our girl trip

The cabin was beautiful! The only disappointments were the bed! I've slept in better ones in cheap hotels, actually the upstairs couch not pulled out was more comfortable to sleep on. Then we also had to go and buy toilet paper because it's like sandpaper! Will definitely go again, just now we know what more to bring.

We enjoyed the hot tub on the deck under the stars. We stayed so busy on our trip we didn't spend as much time at the cabin as we thought which was a bit of a shame because it was beautiful. Pictures online are true to what you get. The cabin is the first on the street, you can see the neighbors cabin through the trees on the deck, no mountain views. Overall a nice home away from home!

Personally, that's the way I would suggest doing it. It was unbelievably peaceful during the week - perfect honestly. Once Friday came along, some college kids checked into a cabin a few down and were very loud until around 7:00pm. Aside from some bugs in the window sills, the cabin was spotless and in great condition. There are some couch and seat cushions that could be re-stuffed, but those are minor in my opinion. The cabin was nicely equipped and the kitchen had everything we needed. If it had a couple more storage spaces, you could easily live here. We'll definitely be back!

So at first arriving we were unsure if it was indeed the cabin I had rented. The inside was awesome, it looked like a cabin and the decor was spot on. The first night the hot tub was not turned up all the way and as a result it was not hot enough to get in. The controls on the hot tub were very worn and it took some patience to get the controls to work. Also, we tried filling up the Jacuzzi tub inside but got a 1/3 way up and ran out of hot water. So the first night in using the amenities were a bust. The bed was very comfortable and having a pool table was fun.

It is close enough to all of the shops downtown. The description of the cabin online was very precise and looked just as good in person. It was extremely clean. The staff called to check on us several times during our stay, which was very nice. The only thing we didn't care for was the bed. It was too hard for us. I recommend updating the mattress. We were married on the patio and it was a beautiful place for us to honeymoon also. I highly recommend this cabin. It is perfect for 2 people. We loved the hot tub outside and the Jacuzzi tub inside upstairs.

Stayed for 3 days in October, 2015 We had a wonderful 3 night honeymoon in an absolutely perfect cabin just 3 miles north of Gatlinburg with a high temperature of a comfortable 63 degrees and a low temperature of a warm 42 degrees; we used the fireplace only to start each of our mornings with our coffee, all snuggled on the leather sofa.The secluded outdoor hot tub was my favorite amenity.Bring extra towels and extra washcloths because I promise you will enjoy your stay!

If we are unable to leave a voicemail, we text and/or send an email letting you know your cabin is ready and give you the door code. Typically, if our guests have poor cell phone reception, they will call us once they get somewhere with service to get the door code. Our customer service department is open from 8 a.m. until 12 midnight, seven days a week to assist you with any questions or concerns. Rest assured, you don't ever have to be worried about being able to communicate with us. We do offer several larger luxury cabins to accommodate more family members. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2015 I am 100% positive when I originally booked this rental, the description said it was secluded (which it is not) now that I look back at it, it no longer claims to be secluded. Spending that amount of money to have your neighbors 30ft away looking down on you in the hot tub or the people walking within 10ft of your deck is unacceptable when your trying to have a romantic getaway. On top of that the gas grill would not get any hotter then 250 degrees I had to cook my steaks under the broiler in the oven. There was supposed to be a DVD player at each TV when there was only 1 in the cabin and Lastly not only was we not able to enjoy the Hot tub because of the lack of privacy, the jacuzzi tub upstairs was filthy first there wasn't enough hot water to fill the tub even half way second as soon as you turn on the Jets the tub fills with a bunch of black gunk. I filled turned on jets then drained the tub 5 times to try and clean it out, did not work. Over all the cabin itself was beautiful, but we was not able to fully enjoy the amenities, very disappointed.

We had a wonderful time and walked these steep mountain roads each morning to enjoy the surrounding wildlife and fauna. We did not however, see one single bear. lolWe did experience a few problems though. The upstairs Jacuzzi leaked into the bedroom so we were unable to use it. When we arrived the code did not work, however, this was quickly resolved by the young lady who had given us the original.

It is located in a nice location to the overall area. One issue that was never resolved was that our gas grill did not function properly. The gas flame that came out of the burner was about 1/4 of what it should have been to cook anything. Wanted to do salmon on the first night and steaks on the second. Contacted the management many times and maintenance tried to fix it but when we left after 3 days it still wasn't working properly. Can't blame maintenance because I think it was the grill. They even replaced the hose and connections. Did not use the hot tub, used the pool table. Spent most of our time in the park. Saw bear, fox, elk, and turkey. Bottom line, if you got the money and want an expensive stay, this is your place. We will probably try another place.

You have a very relaxing deck with a nice view, rockers and hot tub. Everything went very smoothly and the management company called to check if everything was okay. It is spacious enough for 2 couples or a family. The only negatives were that the pullout sofa bed in the loft is extremely uncomfortable and the only DVD player is in master bedroom. Other than that the place was great.

The service was great the cabin was very nice and clean, location was perfect, however the BEDS were hooooorible. My husband and I were both tossing and turning all night in the king bed, so the next night we put our 3 year olds in it -- and we both took a sofa sleeper. They were even WORSE. You can literally feel the springs thru the mattresses, we even went as far as to fold multiple blankets we had brought from home to put between the mattress and our bodies,It helped some. I would not go back, unless they were replaced. It made for sleepless nights and exhaustion.However, the service, cabin, and the cabin location itself were beautiful! Our kids had a blast!

Stayed for 3 days in January, 2015 First night the bath tub on the second floor was leaking in our bedroom, so it was hard to sleep that night, we called the maintenance desk in the morning: they said we cannot do anything about if you dont call us at the moment of incident, second night same thing and no hot water, we called them right away they sent somebody that said that the bath tub need to be replaced. The next day we didnt hear from anybody so we called and asked for explanation refund, they said the manager will call us to refund us or change us to a different cabine, he never did call us and they ignored our calls later...we were really disappointed, so i think the next time we will choose another cabins company because for the price that we paid there are better service companies and well located in the mountains

And also just minutes away from the great Smoky Mountain national Park. The location was terrific.The cabin was beautiful. Jacuzzi, fireplace, Jacuzzi bathtub upstairs, pool table? Very comfortable and very nice.The entire place was very clean and organized and had all of the kitchen utensils necessary to stay home and cook some great meals.The whole cabin community was very peaceful and quiet.

We loved having all the space and comforts of an entire house. The cabin would have been perfect for two couples, because the upstairs loft bedroom actually was quite private, tucked around the corner from the common area with pool table. The cabins are situated in a development on a wooded hillside, which is very quiet, and only a 5 minute drive to town. We did have a sense of privacy there, even on the deck, because the trees blocked the view from the cabin next door. Our only disappointment was the lack of outdoor furniture. There is no where to sit outside to eat meals. The wooden rockers are very uncomfortable. A picnic table would be sufficient, and there is plenty of room. If you are staying at the Fontana, we recommend bringing some folding lounge chairs for the deck. The cabin is absolutely spotless! We really were able to relax here, and we especially enjoyed sitting in the hot tub at night under the stars. We would definitely rent the Fontana again.

We had trouble at first getting into the cabin because they gave us the wrong door code. It was frustrating and took about 30min to get a hold of someone to get the correct code. The place was pretty clean but a couple things to note: 1. the upstairs I don't think was cleaned because there was hair EVERYWHERE, which is gross. 2. both mattresses were terrible. They definitely need to be replaced. 3. There is a timer for the wifi (which is weird) but luckily we found it and were able to override it to use the wifi in the morning. Other than those minor details, we enjoyed our stay immensely and plan on returning.

For us it was far from places where we went. It was pretty small for our family of 5 with teens 17, 15, 13. It did not have a master bath (not a big deal, just not what I had expected). Thankfully we brought 2 air mattresses due to our experiences elsewhere; the sofa beds were not too good as we expected. The kitchen was well equipped, the hot tub was nice. Kinda strange there was no DVD player in the main room. It was a nice cabin, but I would recommend it more for a couple or family with small children.

Stayed for 6 days in June, 2014 The Fontana is in a good location, the cabin is clean, & the service is great, but a few correctable things are about due. The sleeper sofas need new mattresses. They are pretty uncomfortable, even for kids. Also, the master bed mattress was pretty worn-it had "dips" in it. The family room tv is an old CRT with a poor picture. There are no blinds on the rear window or doors to the deck or upstairs by the pool table. Thus, sunlight will probably awaken anyone sleeping on the sleeper sofa. We (6 of us) stayed in the resort last year at a different cabin; it was much nicer (but more expensive). So we probably got what we paid for. Without new mattresses, the Fontana is really only fit for 2, not 6. Maybe pack an air mattress or 2. Also, the deck has access from the cabin & an outside set of steps. Thus, it felt less secure than a cabin that has access to the deck only thru the cabin.

The cabin was absolutely beautiful and in great condition. The staff was very kind and reachable by phone. The cabins were appropriately far enough apart that we felt we could have a private honeymoon. The cabins were close enough to the national park and downtown Gatblinburg to still feel close to the action. We had an incredibly relaxing and fun time, and can't wait to come back and try one of the other cabins!

The large cabin we rented was great for them which is why I didn't give this review 1 star. The second cabin was definitely not what I requested. I spoke on the phone with them to make the reservation and specifically requested a cabin that was private and secluded. I was told "Fontana " would be great for us. Fontana was a beautiful cabin but unfortunately it was located as the first cabin at the entrance of the resort so every car entering or exiting the resort drove by our bedroom window and they could see our back porch which prevented privacy. We had a late arrival that night and an early meeting the next morning that left little time to call and complain. Although I did call them I did not make personal contact with the person I was told to speak with until the morning we checked out. When I explained our issues I was told they were sorry we were unhappy. Poor, poor, poor, customer service. Marty is the lady I spoke with. It's possible she is just a weak link in the company. But her attitude towards our complaint ( she told us some people actually like the things we complained about!) was poor enough that we will use another company on our next trip.

This cabin is not nearly as secluded as the pictures would have you believe. It is at the very entrance to all other properties and there's a good deal of traffic there with both guests and construction. If I decide to go back to Elk Springs, I will be getting a more secluded cabin. Still, the cabin itself was wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to be in the mountains but still close to the local shopping and attractions.

The cabin was very nice and very clean. The towels and wash cloths were folded in creative designs (elephants, swans, etc.) and we felt very welcome and wanted. The kitchen had everything we needed to bake and make our own meals, which we did a lot of. We had a few issues at the cabin (lights and the air conditioner quit one day) but the service personnel responded very quickly (within minutes of when I called) and were very professional and friendly. They also got the issues corrected quickly. We were very happy with our stay and very impressed overall. The cabin is close to other cabins but it feels very secluded (trees, etc. block the view). The resort is in the perfect location - it's easy to get to where we wanted to go but it was in a secluded area with not many people. Only minutes away from the Arts and Crafts Community, too. We loved our stay, the cabin, and the service we received while there!

We loved the overall property but the issues prevented us from having a truly 100% enjoyable stay.

The property was beautiful and clean. Due to weather we actually said our vows at the bottom of the staircase. The staff of Elk Springs were fantastic, our ordained minister was late and unsure if he was going to make it. One phone call to the staff and a replavement, in epeak season I might add, was on his/her way. Luckily, ours decided to join us but it meant so much there willingness to help out in such short notice. Our time spent at Fontana was incredible. Our only complaints were a ladybug problem (but nothing we couldn't handle), the air conditioner is limited in temperatures (would've brought our fan had we known), and the directions from exit 435 had us thinking our turn onto Glades Rd would be soon- not several turns to keep on 321 later. That might need to be made more clear. But, none of these things were issue enough to ruin, or even put a damper on, our stay. We plan on returning as often as we can for anniversaries!!

The down side is that the cabin is not as secluded as we thought it would be. There are neighbors on one side and the road is on the other side. The neighbors have a view of the hot tub, so that was a letdown. Although, the cabin was very nice, clean, cozy, and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was nice with new appliances but only had the bare essentials for cooking, (I brought quite a bit to cook with just in case and glad I did!) The jacuzzi was wonderful, it had plenty of room for us both to get in and snuggle! And the hot water was plenty hot and filled to tub up just fine! The cabin was tucked back in the Arts & Crafts District, and was a welcome reprieve from the hussle and bussle of downtown. There are some really nice shops down the hill and we enjoyed visiting them. Over all, we really enjoyed our stay at Fontana and would like to say at another of Elk Spring?s cabins; hopefully one more secluded!

The hot tub was so well kept (looked brand new) and all the appliances in the kitchen were very modern and nice! It is the perfect romantic bungalow and my husband and I plan on going back for our 1 year anniversary. We could NOT have been any happier. It is was so cozy when we were rained in one afternoon and it's a very close drive to downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge! We even had a picnic out on the gazebo on the back porch! Stay here and you won't regret it!

Upstairs very nice, jacuzzi was uncomfortably small and the water got cold before the tub was half-full. Nice decor throughout-not Hokey. Neighbors have a great view of the hot tub and it needed a table for our beverages and robes. Would have liked dining on the balcony. Great view of the pool table area from the road-needs a cafe curtain. Overall we had a wonderful vacation in the quaint cozy cabin.Would recommend this resort- Fontana and the other cabins are beautiful.

My husband and I enjoyed a two night getaway for our anniversary. The cabin was extremely clean, the bed was big and comfortable, and decor was very tasteful. The only recommendation that I would make for improvement would be that the cabin needs a larger hot water heater. The hot water ran out before the jacuzzi could be filled above the jets; which was a real disappointment. Other than that, we had a fantastic time and we would go back.

The cabin was by far better than any other cabin I've stayed in before. I've been to Gatlinburg numerous times and can say that Elk Spring Resort is the best place to stay. It was very clean, very private, and a great place for a Honeymoon. My wife and I didn't have to worry about our privacy a bit. It's a great place for a family vacation or couples? get away. Fontana is the perfect cabin for two. The cabin was clean and in great condition. I recommend Elk Springs Resort and will be coming back again in May next year. Thank you Elk Springs Resort!!!

We followed directons listed in manual, and it still never worked. Also, we had a ant problem in master bathroom. I called and asked management to call us so we could discuss issue. While rare, we do sometimes have an issue with ants and lady bugs. We do have monthly pest control but sometimes due to weather changes we have had some ants and ladybugs appear in cabins. The good thing is that we can address them very quickly since we have maintenance on site and I'm happy we were able to resolve the ant problem very quickly for you. After we got the fireplace working it appears that the safety mechanism did fail and shut off the fireplace. We prefer that the system errs on the side of safety. We did order the replacement parts for the fireplace but unfortunately we were unable to get them and fix the fireplace during your stay. We do apologize!

The entire area is beautiful and Elk Springs sits right in the middle. Only dissatisfaction the wife and I had was the lack of a table and chairs on the deck and the DVD players didn't work very well.I would recommend this cabin again and again and again.

This cabin was beautiful and very clean. The area was very quiet and made for a great honeymoon getaway location. Many other cabins in the resort were also occupied. The larger cabins in this resort would be great for family vacations also. I'd definitely recommend this facility to others and would stay here again.

Would have been nice to have some shampoo in the cabins along with the soap, but not a deal breaker. Also, we had a couple of lightbulbs that were out and there was a problem with the toilet paper holder in the upstairs bath. Nice jacuzzi and hot tub. Very relaxing porch and rocking chairs. Overall, we were very pleased and would stay there again.

However, we were disappointed in the lack of privacy with the cabins being situated so closely together. We also expected a "mountain" view but found that the cabin offered more of a "woodsy" view instead. Our stay was very nice overall but that was mainly due to the fact that the cabin next door was vacant during our entire stay. Otherwise, we would have been very disappointed with the spacing of the cabins since we were on our honeymoon and the Fontana cabin was listed as a "Romantic and Secluded" honeymoon cabin.

At 4:15 p.m., 45 minutes before we arrived, we received a voice mail stating, currently, the lights in the 1st floor bathroom are not working, but the electrician is on the way to fix it. When we arrived at the cabin, it looked fantastic on the inside. But, only one light on the 1st floor worked, and it was in the kitchen. Also, the fire place would stay lit. So, we called the toll free number, and the people on the property was gone for the day. I unpacked our groceries to prepare dinner. ALL the dishes in cabinet and drawers were either dirty, broken, or rusted. I had to wash ALL, I mean ALL the dishes in the house upon arrival. Trying not to ruin our romantic weekend, I suggested we get in the hot tub until the electrician arrived. We got in the hot tub, and the water was COLD and DIRTY. This was extremely disturbing because you have to pay a $35.00 fee at the time of booking to have the tub drained and cleaned. Then, we went upstairs to get in the Jacuzzi and there was no hot water!!! Pist, I called the toll free number again. I requested to speak to someone on the property. I was given a FL #. I called and the guy was in Vegas. I told him about the lights on the 1st floor, fire place, hot tub, and Jacuzzi bath on 2nd floor. He said he call me back in 10 minutes. So, 15 minutes passed and I called him back. He had the audacity to suggest that we go outside, in the dark, use our cell phone as light, find the fuse box, and try to reset it. At this point I was , eventually someone came out and reset the fuse. It restored the lights on the first floor, but the lights in the bathroom was out the whole trip. We went to the office Saturday afternoon, and was told the manager our concerns. She stated everything would be fixed when we got back from town. Needless to say, it wasn't. Someone added more water to the hot tub and that's it.

It is the first place in a row of homes..neighbors see all of your porch and yard. Drive by to get to their cabins. You are ON the main drive. Entries in guest book show since March show upstairs whirlpool leaks into downstairs bedroom- still does-no warning-glad we read book and were watching to move our things in case. Ants are all over the bathroom. Even with using the "raid" they provide. No millipedes in Oct. Phoone does not work. Hot tub was overflowing with bubbles on arrival-smelled like spa tx./couldn't have been cleaned. They cleaned partly- still oily after they serviced it. We have one at home- it shouldn't have been. Freezer had strong chemical odor- threw ice away and bought some, then open ice bag had odor too- needed a cooler. Tried 6 times to call and report check out-no return call and never did reach anyone. We will use another agency. This was our seventh year coming to G Burg and worst stay.
