Description:
Surrounded by open countryside with breathtaking views from an elevated position and just 4 km from the magnificent medieval bastide town of Domme these two attractive period residences set in 3 acres LET TOGETHER and not separately enjoy one of the finest locations in the Dordogne Valley. Built over 200 years ago it they been recently and sympathetically restored and comfortably furnished for its owner’s own use and together offer spacious accommodation for up to 10 people. The atmosphere of these beautiful houses has been maintained with a wealth of beams and original stonework together with modern facilities.

The property is perfectly located, whilst in the quiet and peace of the country and in grounds of three acres it is close to all the amenities that modern day living relies. With Domme and the medieval market towns of Sarlat and Gourdon nearby you are within minutes of restaurants, cafes, bars, supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, doctors and two fine hospitals. This is the perfect base from which to explore one of the most beautiful regions of France. The wealth of sightseeing in such a concentrated area is unique

One house provides accommodation for 5 in two double bedrooms a single bedroom and two bathrooms. The self-contained second house with its own fully equipped kitchen, dining room and lounge sleeps 6 in three double bedrooms with one bathroom and two toilets [one of which is accessed from the garden]. This makes Pech Long perfect for two families or groups who wish to spend their holiday together with some independence and privacy.

Accommodation

The front entrance leads into a very large living room dominated by a lovely fireplace. Bookshelves line one wall and there is a piano in the corner beneath a window. The furnishing includes two sofas and two reading chairs, a coffee table, and television with satellite reception, VCR, dining table and chairs. French windows open into a conservatory, which looks out onto the garden and swimming pool, glass sliding doors from the conservatory open onto the garden. This light and pleasant room has two sofas and a coffee table.

The kitchen is accessed from the lounge and is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven and hob, combination microwave and oven, and a large American fridge/freezer with icemaker set into one wall. An arc shaped serving hatch to the dining section is a particularly attractive feature.

The first bathroom is off the lounge with a shower, hand basin and toilet
Wide stone staircase leads to the upstairs hallway and two double bedrooms, bathroom and cloakroom. Both bedrooms have double beds and overlook the grounds, pool and countryside. There is a third bedroom with a single bed and provision for an additional bed if required The bathroom has a corner bath with shower above, and pedestal basin. There is also a separate toilet.

Outside, by the entrance is a terrace with table and chairs for outside dining.

HOUSE TWO:

The age of this lovely house is not known, however it is considerably older than house one. The interior has been beautifully restored. You enter on the ground floor into the kitchen/dining room, which is quite exquisite. The kitchen section fitted by local craftsmen in white oak is fully equipped with a gas hob, microwave/oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine. The dining section has a table and 6 chairs and a fully working bread oven.

There is an interior wooden staircase as well as an exterior stone one to the first floor. The large hallway leads to two double bedrooms with double beds and views over the grounds, and countryside. The good-sized shower room includes a vanity unit and toilet. There is a spacious lounge with huge open fireplace, comfortable sofa and chairs, and television. Double doors from the lounge lead to the third bedroom with a double bed and seperate bathroom. It is this room that the original stone stairs providing an additional independent entrance to the bedroom.

OUTSIDE:

The grounds extend to almost three acres and are completely secluded and private. The views from the swimming pool are absolutely stunning. The pool itself is 10 meters x 5 meters the shallow end being 90 cm and the deep end 2 metres 50. The pool furniture supplied is for 10 people. The purpose built barbecue is close to the pool and pool terrace. An outside toilet and wash hand basin conveniently saves entering the houses when in the garden and pool area.
