• 30 minutes east of Châtellerault by car, with TGV to Paris in 1½ hours.
• 15 minutes from La Roche-Posay, renowned historic spa town.
• one hour south of Tours on the Loire and 45 minutes northeast of Poitiers by car.
• 3½ hours southwest of Paris by car.

Note: A car is essential to explore the area and take advantage of the surrounding attractions; we are some 3.5 km from the nearest shops. Car rental is available in Paris, Châtellerault, Poitiers, and Tours.

Description:

• Situated at the end of a small, old-fashioned hamlet set in beautiful countryside: gently rolling hills, small fields with cows and sheep, vineyards and orchards, forests and woods, beautiful vistas.
• Full privacy, very quiet, no passage of cars.
• Charming restored country stone cottage built in 1870, with large open fireplace and apparent beams. The original house was enlarged with a spacious cathedral ceiling dining room and kitchen. Warm, inviting, sunny and cheerful!

- Sleeps three comfortably: one queen bedroom and a twin bed in living room (new beds); a 4th could sleep on sofa. In summer, additional sleeping may be available in the small cottage.
- Fully furnished and well-equipped. Large library of books. Internet access. All linens provided (just bring clothes and personal effects).

• Small park-like garden with barns and other cottages, surrounded by rolling fields and overlooking a forest, a true bird-watchers' delight. Attractive Koi carp pond.
• Excellent local wineries and gourmet dining nearby.
• Local shops in historic medieval town Preuilly-sur-Claise 10 minutes away and in the lovely spa town of La Roche-Posay 15 minutes away, renowned for healing skin conditions and burns. Large supermarkets in Yzeures-sur-Creuse (also 15 minutes away) and in La Roche-Posay. Quaint outdoor markets nearby as well.

La Gourie is available for rental on a weekly basis for self-catered holidays. Reservations normally run from Saturday to Saturday. If possible, please plan your arrival from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with departure by 10:00 a.m. Exceptions may be negotiated.

Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of a non-refundable 30% deposit. The balance is due four weeks prior to arrival. We recommend that you take out quality travel insurance as no deposit refunds will be made.

Note: We offer a 10% discount for two weeks, 15% discount for three weeks, and 20% discount for monthly/four-week rentals.

Payment is accepted by inter-bank wire transfer or Paypal.

Upon arrival, we require a cleaning/breakage cash deposit of Euros 150 (approx. $230), refundable upon departure.

Liability & Insurance:

We have taken all reasonable precautions to make the home safe and agreeable for guests, and can accept no responsibility for accidents. Guests are therefore advised to take out their own travel insurance, including medical coverage. If needed, the French health care system is excellent.
