Once a residence for a wine and olive oil-producing family for generations, the property has been recently transformed, with the help of a local architect, into 4 separate units having all the convenience of modern amenities while retaining unique historic charm. There is a lush terraced garden available for your use, which has a view of the surrounding countryside. Each unit is beautifully furnished, and is equipped with full modern kitchen and bathroom, high-speed internet, etc. Ideally suited for weekly visits or long-term stays (discounts for longer terms).
Centrally located for daytrips throughout Italy -- just a 10 minute drive from Assisi; 30 minutes from Perugia; one hour from Siena; two hour train or car ride from Florence and/or from Rome.
The town of Spello has an authenticity that has not yet been spoiled by tourism. It sits on the Southern slope of the imposing Mount Subasio. With a population of only 6,000 inhabitants, Spello has a rich history which dates back to Roman times. It’s an ideal place for foreigners to experience the charm of a small medieval Italian village and to live like a local, experience local festivals and roam the antique / outdoor markets. It’s equally well-suited as a home base for daytrips or weekend excursions to many of Italy’s most popular tourist destinations (such as Rome, Florence, Siena, Lago Trasimeno to name just a few).
Within walking distance to public transportation (including a train station which connects to Florence, Rome, and beyond), local bakery, grocery stores, cappuccino bars, restaurants, post office, and churches. Tours of Roman ruins, cooking classes, horse back riding and spa visits can easily be arranged through a local travel agent in Spello.
ACCOMMODATION:
One large bedroom on top floor with master bath sleeps 2.
Living room with fireplace sleeps 2. There are 1-1/2 baths.
It can be opened up to the 3 bedroom /2 bath unit next to it (Unit #2, the "Tiberius"), to allow a maximum of 10 people.
First level:
It has a large kitchen/dining room combination, fully equipped. There is a large table which seats up to 8. The kitchen opens up to a small balcony overlooking the Roman Properzio Towers.
Next to the kitchen is a half-bathroom. There is a washer and dryer as well.
The living room has 2 corner couches which could be turned into beds to sleep one adult and a child; a rollaway bed can be brought in to accomodate an an additional person.
Second level:
The master bedroom features a wrought iron double bed and a rustic 'armadio' closet. This bedroom also has a magnificent view.
The master bathroom has a large tiled shower, and two individual sink cabinets.
There is street access to the garden.
